Two days ago, i was on my night shift at my workplace hamrai GS. One Nepali brother(dv holder) ..i know this guy little much as he used to come to my store from time to time. That night the store wasnt so busy and he was waiting for someone ( showing as if he is talkin on cell)...and also started chating with me....he asked me "how much do u get here" ..frankly i said ,,8..in cash....He started now his words...I m also manager In THIS THIS GS....another dhoti is also calling to handle another store ...but I ignored ..how much he gonna give me?...i work in casino too ...i make good tips jus today...i made 200....his english was ,,shit ...he was trying to speak english as if he was born here...also started singin some lattu hiphop song i didn't knew what he was singin (i think to show he can sing and listen to english songs haha)..."he asked me do u listen this ?...hehe he was asking me abt music ,,,i said no i don't listen hiphop jus rock.......He again asked me :if i hab phone card for nepal? i said yes...where u wanna call kathmandu (generally kathmandu comes from my mouth)...i asked so...BUt...he was little worried to say im from Terai...I was amazed why he slipped on this to say..I am from Terai....his dress up was really ...pakhe style...he had colored his hair yellow..TUP at his ears...haha...sounds and looks so funny......i was thinkin myself " kasto kasto manche lai dv parne rahecha"...

Being "JEALOUS" does not help LOSERS  to win a DV!

i habnt said myself that all dv winners are AANPADH AND GAWAR...and neither hab said all F1 are talented too..but in fact......yeah noone is JEALOUS here..cant be said that F1 are losers....neither cant be said DV holders are final winners howeve they ve won BHAGYESALI CHITHAA....

I have met so many typical pakhes who won DV. Some of them have never tasted MoMo in their whole life.

actually.. i don't want to adress the DV people as.. airport ma samatera kantnu parne or something like that.. but still.. the people who have DV they are like.. i don't know what to say.. just like the above posted message there might be some who have never tasted the momo.. some might be like sidai mugling ma bhat khayera TIA bata america ayeko pani huncha sakcha.. but not all..

i also had one experience.. i met the person with DV.. and the good thing is.. he cannot even speak well english.. seems like he is not even had the Schooling degree..

I don't understand... may be its just because Students have to let go many opportunities due to not having a Green Card or proper working authority so they develop this thing for the Nepali's who have proper authority to live and work but do not have the caliber to do that work.

I ignored this thread for a long time but today I just checked and was appalled. I don't want to pass any judgment of the DV-lottery guy because such attitude is not limited to just DV lottery people. I know some Nepalese (and Indian and other nationals as well) who are undocumented and yet they sport attitudes like that.

What appalled me was the fact that the originator of the thread used the word "pakhe" to describe a man who did not come from Kathmandu. I am from Kathmandu myself but I don't think I am any less pakhe than any other man. Just because he did not happen to come from an affluent society in Kathmandu and did not get the opportunity to get enrolled in a good school where "English medium" is strictly imposed, that does not make him a pakhe. That kind of attitude on our part as "city-dwellers" that sows the seeds of Maoists and Terai Forums.

Speaking good english does not actually get us anywhere, specially in the cities like boston which is a melting pot for many nationalities and communities. I myself was educated at an "English medium" school by a multitude of American (and British, Canadian and Australian as well) teachers but I have a lot of flaws in my English, even more so when I speak. For the kind of jobs that most of us Nepalese people do in the USA, it is enough if we can get the message through when we speak. We will never be on a harvard debate team.

And technically, I don't think the term "pakhe" applies to a guy from Terai. It is a slur for someone from the hills. Pakhe = someone from pakha

Friends, let's forget who's pakhe, who's parbate, who's shahariya, who's madhisey and who's bhotey. After all, we are all Nepalese. And in much broader sense, we all are human beings. Belonging to one particular group of people does not make us any better (or any worse) than other groups.

Since when can a person be judged by his DV status (other than immigration officers ofcourse)?
And since when did eating MOMO become a hip status. Most of the Americans would be pakhe with that definition.
