Missouri City Store Clerk Murdered During Convenience Store Robbery
A Missouri City convenience store clerk was shot with a rifle and killed during a robbery Sunday night.
Bhattarai
Ashok, 21, of Houston, was found dead next to the cash register at
about 10:10 p.m. at the First Stop Food Store, at 2563 Cartwright Road.
Police arrived after receiving a call that a man was down at the store.
A
police spokesman said Ashok had been shot to death. Surveillence video
Missouri City Police detectives obtained showed a black man about 5
feet, 10 inches tall wearing a do-rag opened the door to the store and
fired a rifle, striking Ashok.
The assailant then walked over to
a safe that Ashok had just opened, pulled out about $5,000 in cash and
walked out, police reports said.
The police spokesman said a
second clerk was in the cooler re-stocking the store while the shooting
and robbery occurred, and apparently didn't hear anything.
"We're
looking at the videos - not only from last night, but during the whole
day," in hopes of more information, the police spokesman said. The case
is being treated as a homicide investigation.
Ashok's family, from the Dallas area, was informed of his death Monday morning.
