I had promised that I was going to start my own thread regarding stock investments and the markets. So many things have happened since last time I was here and I really do not feel like sharing my knowledge. But a promise is a promise and there have been few people that have emailed me and supported me. This thread will deal with investing in the stock markets. I will not discuss individual stocks but discuss ETFs like SPY, DIA, IWM and QQQQ. The one good thing about trading ETFs compared to individual stocks is the the ETFs provide instant diversification among similar companies within the same sector. I will post more as we go along, regarding entry-price, profit-target and stop-losses. I do not think that any ETF is good or bad. It is good only if I'm making money and bad if I'm losig money. If you have not been in the market so far, please read this as an information piece only rather than my recommendations. There is risk involved and you should know how much risk to take on any position. Any suggestations, comments and criticisms are welcome as long as it is market related. If this thread gets out of hand and we start discussing off-topics, I'll stop posting. Have a happy new year!!!! May 2007 bring you and your family lots of joys and riches.

JavaBeans, Admitted you know about the markets in general but this is Emini's time and again proven trading strategies here. He's talking about "trading" not "investing"! And this is where you've confused yourself (Trading = extreme short run while Investing = short run or mainly, the long run). Its like talking to academicians who blow out technical indicators on charts as being bogus, but on the street, its what everyone swears and lives by. Talk to me about the charts and I could od it all day...Any trader out there would know what I'm talking about, but if I do the same to academicains and financial consultants (brokers), they'd look at me as though I was crazy!!
Admitted that risk management is key when it comes to trading for the IBs and hedgefunds, but for individual traders out there with a few Gs to speculate, going outright is key. How is one to hedge bets using deltas and the greeks and what have yous when capital is limited and leverage used is some hundreds to one (in few cases)? I truly applaud this thread and would like to encourage emini to continue posting his insights. Cramer of Mad Money gets his selections wrong half the time, yet he's on TV as it's HIS POINT of view...Nothing wrong with Emini doing the same here, ain't it?
And, you say "pump and dump strategy"? C'mon, who on sajha would fall for that...The players here are small fries and they won't even affect the market prices by a penny uptick/dowtick on even the most untraded penny stock. C'mon man, lets keep talking about trading here. If you wanna talk about your investing strategies, start a new thread and we could all come there too and pour in our insights.

Hey Javabeans, I'm still waiting for the strategy that you use to trade futures. I'm still learning how to trade. I can't believe that I finally got busted after a little over a year. I had a nice pump-and-dump scheme going on for a while. Here is my 2 days daytrading results. I'm sure you consistently make more than any of us here.
Please enlighten us!!!

Latoboy, Nice job on HIMX. 7.50 was the all time high, so I'll be careful around that price. If it manages to get past 7.50, I'll add more to it as the dancer guy did.

Nice kukpaboy, you are truly amazing but you're still no match for Javabeans. The only mistake in your blotter is that when you take the difference between settled price and asking price you need to trade 40,000 contracts for which you need about $80,000,000 if you are using the minimum margin. Do you manage a hedge fund? Can I work there?

Singing Bowl, The stock selection criteria is different. I basically got the scan from a friend of mine so I do not want to post it here. Let me ask him if it is okay if I share that with few individuals, if I get an okay from him I can email that to people that have participated here. I do not think there will be a problem. It is a free scan that usually spits out about 50 stocks and basically you'll have to look at each stock's chart for additional filterning. Somedays there will not be a single stock that meets all the criteria and some days there will be few.

Hello Emini, I was looking for my password for Bricolage. Oops lost it somewhere. Anyways this is my login as bhairee. The old Bricolage. It is nice to see you some new participants on your thread. I also see some fumes and flames around. *smile*. It has been long that I have been on the long side. The portfolio has gone down by 50 percent and all I can say is that I learned some out of my failures. 1. Do not bet on IPOs. Especially in downturn market. 2. Go long is good, but then again entry point needs to be really calculated. 3. DNDN is a one bull crap that I got my monies tied up. Offffffffff. Nice to be back here Emini. Where is TT bhai these days? Cheers! Bhairee

latoboy, ya lil snake oil trader, stop giving grand illusions about your trading schemes when all you've been doing in playing on demo trading accounts. Go use some better analysis as the ones you suggest (without any technical indicators) are gonna rip the shirt off your back...Man, your strategy is like going to Vegas and putting up the ranch in the roulette table. Atleast give some insights into your picks so that you picls could be analyzed and then bomarded back to you for getting your research completely wrong.
C'mon son, tell me why you picked the symbols you mentioned above...I can't wait to shut you down.

samsara u fool... im playing with real money.. dont have time to mess around with a demo account.. as a recent college graduate it should not be surprising that im playing with small numbers. BUT i can guarentee u that i am playing with more money than u did when u
first started out. if u were my age u wouldnt have the courage to be
playing in this kind of market with the kind of money i have invested.
