The following report and pledge was received to Nepal Democracy Forum (google group) from one of it's member and a respected journalist in Kathmandu.

My blood is boiling with the report of the massacre of pro-democracy demonstrators by the regime.

I also feel a guilt as I have seen in the images of the protests comprising mostly youngsters from low and lower-middle class.

The rich class (except for the professional groups) are still in their baithak watching TV.

Let's open a "Sajha Fund for Loktantra-fighters" to help the victims of the regime's violence.

"Nepal Democracy Forum" has already discussed about it and I am sure they will immediately proceed. Most probably, a fund will be set up at NAC or other umbrella organizations.

We can contribute to that fund. But how about a Sajha fund ?

The message was for everyone who is worried about misuse of the donated money for this noble cause. While it is a smart thinking to make sure where the money is going, with everyone trying and promising to be transparent, we should come up in front and offer our helping hands for the noble cause at this moment. We should make a habit of working on the basis of mutual trust. Why are we always doubftful and hesitant?

I want to reiterate that this is the best time for Nepalese diaspora to contribute to the ongoing "people's revolution" in Nepal. Let's contribute and make a difference.

Police open fire at demonstrators in Gonganu, over a dozen critically injured

More than a dozen protesters were injured when security personnel opened fire at a demonstration in Gongabu in Kathmandu Tuesday evening.

TV footages showed several injured demonstrators being rushed to hospital as violent clashes between the police and the protesters went on. Red Cross officials, some foreign volunteers and police personnel carried the inured persons to police vans and other vehicles to be rushed to hospital.

According to human rights monitors present on the scene, more than a dozen agitators were shot by the riot police and the Armed Police Force (APF) officials as angry demonstrators threw stones at the residence of police AIG Roop Safar Moktan at Gongabu after unidentified persons reportedly opened fire at the crowd from inside the house.

APF Senior Superintendent Madhav Thapa who was leading the security forces refused to order his men to halt fire despite several requests after a number of protesters were shot at, the rights activists said.

Several rights activists and journalists were also injured as police indiscriminately charged batons at the crowd while dozens others were arrested from the protest that started soon after the daytime curfew ended at 5:00 p.m.

I want to see some leaders getting killed or injured. Then the intesity will increase. Other than that, its a cat and mouse game.

About the this incident, I just read that people were throwing stones at AIG's house and someone from inside shot at those who were throwing stones.

Come on... Why at homes.....????

If I was AIG I would have shot point blank to forehead. No question asked...
If you want to protest go ahead. But why homes??? Innocent people live there.

And if you have guts, go throw stones at palace...

And also, poor people, naive are dying not the well to do. And definetely not the Leaders.

And all of us in USA are just watching. We definitely are not going back. We are the watchers of the chess game...some other people are playing the game.....

IFC, that message was for everyone. Everyone knows that leaders are corrupt. That doesn't mean that we should forget our citizen's duty. Leaders will be thrown on due time. Even KG will be thrown. Let see how long he lasts like this.

Looking at the some of the pictures at Gongabu, we know that people need help there. They can't come all the way here to ask for our help. We should reach out to them. There is no question that the fund movement should be transparent but on the suspicion not to donate anything is not right.

Gaff garna sabailai aunchha. Thulai kam garna nasake sano tara ramro kam garna hundaina? This is that kind of opportunity. If you help, you are great. If you don't want to help, just don't poison people's mind. After all, if you were one of those who got heavily beaten by the cop's cane till whole layer of your backskin came out, what would you think?

waht i asked was for myself, not to poison people's mind. it was a simple straightforward qeustion. and the very reason i asked was because i was willing to donate some money and i just wanted to make sure it went to the right cause. i am not a consiparacy theorist. not once in my threads have i said i am not going to give because i am goddamn sure it will be misused. waht i asked HOW do i know or how do i esnure, for my own satisfaction lter on. even if there is no way of knowing, i would not sit back and watch.

I would suggest all to think calmly and take extreme caution on any stand you take. It is very easy to get persuaded by the pictures, propaganda and the slogans crafted by the corrupted leaders which will only benefit them, maobadis and ultimately the royal regime. We all need to be careful and not get persuaded and not fight among ourselves. Nepal doesn't have visionary leaders nor the leaders who care for it but it does have citizens who can take rational decisions when the cities are going amok.

You try your best. right? I am doing the same thing. You should not sit back and relax. There should be transparent movement of money. I had written in previous post that everything should be clearly spelled out how this will be carried out. How it can be tracked later on.

Bad people can be anywhere. People made money out of Katrina disaster too. They just collected money from the Internet. In that sense, you are perfectly reasonable.

Fund set up for treating people hurt in demos

Kathmandu, April 11:

Popular comedy actors Madan Krishna Shrestha and Hari Bansha Acharya, popularly known as Maha Jodi, today set up a Jana Andolan First Aid Treatment Fund for the treatment of the people injured during the ongoing people’s movement for democracy.
The fund has been instituted in order to share the excessive pressure of patients visiting the Kathmandu Model Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during demonstrations.
The Maha duo has provided Rs 100,000 for the fund. The Public Health Concerned Trust (PHECT) Nepal under whose banner the Kathmandu Model Hospital is providing its services ,also provided an equal amount for the fund.
Likewise, doctors of the hospital including Dr Rajesh Dhoj Joshi, Dr Basanta Panta and chairman of the PHECT Suman Shrestha provided Rs 50,000, Rs 25,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively.
The hospital and the comedy actors duo have appealed to all to make contributions to the treatment fund.

People should unite in the crisis. If you can't unite even in the crisis, then hell you are not the part of the society. For example, in a neighborhood some people fight and don't speak to each other for all of their life. However, when any of them die another one comes to help the family of the deceased one even if the latter had not spoken with them all his life when other person was still alive.
