i don't agree with Paramendra 100%, but some issues that he has been raising are really sensible and are reality. For example, I have seen many people calling poor Medeshi Nepalese in the streets of Kathmandu a "Marshyaa". That is not definetely good especially using regional identity to treat a person, one can treat him decently insteead. we should really learn how to respect our fellow Nepalese whoever he or she is: Dalit Nepali, Madheshi Nepali, poor Nepali........ If we have problem with Indian selling potato or whatever in Kathmandu, we can campaign for ban on those Indian entering in to that business instead of calling them "eh dhoti" or something like that. If it is a Nepalese from Madhesh, no one can stop him from his business. So, treating a human a human is the best way whoever he is.

Thaha Payen I wonder if you have seen people of Nepali origin including those from Darjeeling being treated in India. Nepalese even if they call them "marshya" - do not have ill feelings and conspiracies against them. You should see and feel the way Indians treat Nepalese in India and also the way Marwaris treat their pahari servants in Nepal. And those who call them "marshaya" are newars, who even call other casts like "khaini" for chhetris and many other words for other casts. So it doesn't mean anything.

So, we should voice againsnt those Indian mentalities and way they treat us. It does not mean we should looked down our own fellow Nepalese from Indian origin. we can not win the race that way. "Marshya" was just an example. If a Tarrainian Nepalese feels bad being called by such words, we should stop using those things and treat well, equally. that's what i was saying. i already mentioned that i don't fully agree with this guy's explanations of some social/regional issues.

It is not only how to treat foriener or other people. But and the most important things is that.... Nepali people those who work in government offices are national criminals and corrupted crooks.... These people are the major KEY problem of all problem of Nepal. 1970 Indian killed, rape and destroyed Nepalese village and town in Assam. 1980 Indian try to kick out native Nepali/Indian from Darjeeling, Mirik, Karsang, Silgudi. Indian government try all kind of in-human act to Nepalese inside their land. But Nepalese crooks take briberies and give authentic Nepali Citizenship to these Indian people. Does anybody know How danger it is? We can loose our job, home, land and country in next century? If these crooks act like these crime and corruption in Nepali citizenship. What do you think?

Dear Educated (mostly western based I believe), Well, being Nepali, it is not the time to keep on discussing same old crap about Hinduism, Caste system, King, Racism, Discrimination etc. etc. all the time which leads us nowhere and gaining nothing. It is good that finally we almost got rid of King at least for now, it is beginning of new Era for each and every Nepalis from all the nook and corners and all races and tribes to be true diginified Nepali. Religion and custom is for individuals and their own family and community to keep in social harmony. Being Secular Nepal is the most suited at this juncture of Nepal, the far and foremost requirment is the NEED OF INCLUSIVE DEMOCRATIC SYSTEM where all could take part and have a saying in decision making for the benefit to alll being Nepali first. Being Hindu, Buddhists, Christian, Muslim or whatever other religion one choose to follow it is matter of personel perception, we should respect that individualism. MAKE SYSTEM CREATE THE ENVIRNMENT FOR AND WORK HARD, GENERATE PROPER TAX SYSTEM TO SUSTAIN ECONOMY SOTHAT EVERYBODY HAS THE FAIR CHANCE OF SURVIVAL AND UPLIFTMENT AND DEVELOPMENT OF INDIVIDUAL, SOCIETY AND NEPAL AS WHOLE. We should from now on distance the State with Religion and first check the mal practices, corruption of the whole Government System through new Constitutional Assembly to check each and every tyrant, undemocratic, criminal elements including all political parties now specially Security Aparatus and Maobadis. Regarding the moving Capital and establish elsewhere it will not be so easy to do but I agree in this respect. Once should gradually make proper INFRASTRUCTURES in phase wise in all other GEOGRAPHICAL SECTORS specially MID WEST AND WESTERN PART OF NEPAL. Then gradually in phase we should indeed shift the Capital or Administrative Centre for experiment or decentralise the power into Federal Government representing in respective region and development sectors looking into local and regional requirements. Kathmandu is too crowded, polluted and too elite power centric, we need to change this SECENARIO ONCE AND FOR ALL. But it will not be as easy as some friends want to see without proper developmental assessement and build up. Perharps English should be made the lingua franca as in India for all Government and judicial and administrative purpose in PHASE and uplift NATIVE AND REGIONAL LANGUAGES PRIORITY so that there won't be any domination of few percentage of people whos mother tongue HAPPENS TO BE KHAS NEPALI and will AUTOMATICALLY CREATE SENSE of belongingness as well as competence. Well rest I believe FRIENDS know better to add further necessary steps which will benefit all FIRST AS NEPALI. JAI NEPAL AND NEPALI

I thought Paramendra is an intellectual... if all Nepalis are suffering from discrimination, corruption and "bhan-sun" in Nepal, it is not a wonder people living in parts of Nepal(e.g. Terai) are suffering from it in particular. Whole Nepal is in a shamble. Why do you want to disintegrate Nepal further when Nepal is already a tiny country? Talk about removal of corruption, discrimination and bhan-sun systems and I can agree. I think folks like Paramendra needs to in fact try to unite all folks and communities, castes etc together ... bring them together.

I'm from KTM and I personally pray to God they would move the capital out of the valley for god sake. This is good for Nepal and folks in KTM valley. KTM will hopefully again become a heaven on earth (Indrabati kantipuri nagari).

Omg...serzly every1 needs to get over this caste discrimination. i don think ppl realise that ure jus adding fuel to the fire. Yes we all know that caste discrimination occurs in Nepal. That’s a fact. However one can only hope that educated ppl can comprehend beyond the exterior n understand what this system was and how it doesn’t relate to the contemporary situation. So if all of u, who have had a decent education cannot break free frm this thinking then were neva guna b rid of it. It seems every1 hates each other; yes it’s great to b loyal to ur heritage but not wen it starts to be intolerant against others. Wat is every1 in the U.S extremely caste conscious or something, coz that’s wat it seems lyk, I don think a wk passes by without some sort of article about which caste is good n bad this that. Ur not in nepal, so shudnt we bond as one.
