I had my sister's wedding reception last year at New Baneshwor Banquet at Baneshwor height. It was really well organised.
The party palace in itself is quite big with plenty of parking place for cars and motorbikes. The toilets are quite clean and they clean them regularly throughtout the reception which makes it a pleasant experience. Food was also very good. And staffs and waiters are quite professional. Lastly, it is located at the heart of Baneshwor height, no if your party is in the evening, they won't be a shortage of public transporation. Plenty of taxis waiting for clients right outside of the party palace. Overall I had a very good experience with them.

 And ofcourse you have hotel raddission and Soaltee as well as Hyatt !!  Yak and yeti , and annapurna too :D there are loads of hotels where you can have your reception at , depending on how cost efficient you want to be.

New banquets with the parking undeground are not expensive as compared to the ones mentioned above :)

i would suggest you go and visit Radission hotel, i know it sounds expensive, for its a 4 star i believe, but it is pretty much affordable if you are willing to spend a bit more :)

Instaed of hosting a reception donate that money to "ama ko ghar" or "Brdidasram in Pasupati". Help start a trend. Too much Bhooj these days in kathmandu. everyone is overweight, have blood pressure. so why add trouble to their life which is already in trouble.

@Mercy. Radisson is a five-star Hotel.

Try Army HQ. You need to pay 30k in rental fees (compared to over 100s of thousands of rupees in five-star hotels) plus price per plate set by catering companies.

Hotel Del Annapurna charges $1400 per Plate

Radisson also charges $1400 per plate.

while other Party palaces charge you around $600- $800

Good luck.

Also, i feel this plate system is not good especially where there are lots of kids involved.

Kids will use one plate for samosa, another plate for rasbari and so on..

You get charged for each plate.

$1,400 bucks per plate is unheard of! I highly doubt Bill Gates or Saudi Arabian Royal family spend that much!

I didn't know that the catering fee (price/plate) were fixed. I thought you could alter them based on what you'd want to serve. For example - chicken, fish, goat and pork would cost you more money than only 2 out of those 4 items. Similarly, for desserts, you could only have jeri and yogurt as opposed to lalmohan, dudhbari, yogurt to lower the price. I'd heard of this person who spent 2500 Nrs/ plate at Soaltee while I've also heard of this other guy who spent 1,900 Nrs.

From my understanding, the rental fee is fixed while catering fees (price/plate) can be changed. Not sure if they're fixed at the hotels US Returnee just mentioned.
