hi lauro ji,
In order to file from CA, you need to prove that you are a resident of CA. Having CA's address is one of the proofs but in your case it is not enough. If you go to office located in TX and get paycheck from there, merely changing your address in CA won't be enough to prove that you are a resident of CA. Hence, in my opinion, you can't file from CA.
Even if you file, it is most likely that your case will be transferred to your area of jurisdiction --Houston. If it happens, the whole process will be very lengthy. Additionally, keep in mind that filing the case is a serious issue. It depends upon your background and circumstances. You mentioned that you can't leave your job. So, based on preliminary information, it is recommended that you not file from CA. Thanks.

Busenitz, It's because self respect doesn't put your food on the table and it doesn't reunite families. It's compulsion, not something done for fun. :)

It really does not matter.
Just go to the bank and change your address to one of your fren who lives in bay area,ca
I know dozens of people who have successfully done that.

Hi purweli mitra,
I have also met some people who have done the way you mentioned. But they were working on cash not on payroll. i believe that those who work on payroll have some issues in filing as they are working in different state and filling from CA.
I have also seen some students who go to school in some other states but filed from CA had their cases pending and refereed to the court of their jurisdiction outside CA. Hopefully people who have gone through exactly the same situation might better answer this question. Thanks.
