Hello friends, I am trying to invite my mom to US for this upcoming Dashain. I received my green card through asylum leaving me with no option rather than to invite them over here. what documents do I need to provide and send it out if I am sponsoring her and what are my chances as per my status? Also if you happen to know any good consultancy in Kathmandu where they can help her through the paper works. I haven't met her in a long time and want to make sure that no loop holes are left out during these paper work. lot of times even though we know what we need we miss it so hopefully a good consultancy comes as a boon. Please throw some of your thoughts and experience as it would mean a lot to me. thanks always.

 Dude, the Dashain is next week. You can count "THIS" dashain in hours. So sorry to kill your excitment, but I don't think you can get her here for this Dashain. 

For next year, however, you should be able to. I am no asylee, so I don't know if there are any restrictions for their invitees. As long as you have GC, and you are not the one going over there, then should not be a problem. Others may shed more light on this. 

For the application, I don't think it's necessary to hire a consultancy. Are you planning to show some crooked documents? If not, the application process is very straightforward. It's done online and she can go for an interview with the supporting documents that makes the embassy believe that you can in fact sponsor her stay and/or she has enough ties that she will return back. That's it. 

If she is only coming for a visit, I'd refrain from using the term 'sponsorship'.

Please understand that the only way to receive a visitor's visa is to make sure the consular believes she is going to return. Besides that the way she communicates also plays a pivotal role.

I sent following documents for my parents and have been doing that for quite sometime whenever their visa expired (you might find this overwhelming, but I suggest you consolidate all documents than leave out few and take chances)-

From my end
1. Copy of my passport (or a green card)
2. Copy of my driver's license
3. Copy of my work's access badge or a letter of employment (this might be redundant, but still....)
4. Some pay stubs of recent months
5. Copy of my social security card (again, this is redundant but I'd send it anyway)
6. Copy of my mortgage (same as above)
7. Bank statement
8. A VERY GOOD letter to the embassy explaining why you want to invite them, how long they are going to be here, what will you guys do, where will you visit, and write something that your parents will not overstay or work illegally or become a liability of this nation. 

From their end
1. Any employment documentation (past or present).
2. Bank statement
3. Property papers
4. Citizenship papers
5. Proof that I am their son
6. Copies of previous travel visas ( I don't know why I'd ask them to insert these but I believe it will perhaps make the consular believe they have travelled before and returned)
7. A VERY GOOD letter to the embassy confirming they will return before the visa expires and will not do anything to put their visa status in jeopardy.

Once again, this is what I do every five years, and it has worked 100% of the time, I am sure someoene else will suggest you something else, but if you have these documents handy, and them as well, as your mom to apply for visa after you fedex them your documents.

 I did almost as behoove_me did, except I did not send Social Security card's copy and mortgage; instead I sent I-134. From my parents' side, they showed property papers, proof that they are my parents, a letter and employment documentation. Other than that they didn't even show bank statement. Because I didn't have much time, I scanned all the documents and sent them via email. It worked and they got visa. That was in January 2013.

I had sent only I-134 and the bank statement from last 2 months. that showed my salary info too. I also scanned and send the documents via email. When my in-laws applied, I used same document but all in my wife's name. When my parents applied, I used same document, but everything in my name. Both my in-laws as well as my parents got visa. My in-laws are currently here, I am planing to call my parents next year. And this was too in January :)

This post was helpful cause I am going to invite my parents as well. But the issue is I am a student and want to invite them for graduation. I know my parents do not have a huge bank balance to show them and I am going to sponsor their travel and health expenses. I also have a job offer but the job does not start until I graduate.  So I was wondering how much bank balance I need to show. And can I show my future job offer as well? I hope this does not have any negative impact as students in F1 are expected to return to the home country after they graduate. Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated.

@parbatekanchi :   I am in the same boat. I think, it's risky to sponsor them. The VISA officer might think that parents won't return back since they can easily sustain in US via their's son's/daughter's income. I have the job offer and already started working in the company via CPT. I am in the doubt as well whether to sponsor my parents or not.

@Coolbuddy, I invited my parents while on OPT and I have mentioned above what documents I sent and what docs my parents submitted.

I came to this thread again. My parents got the visa and they are coming for my graduation now for about a month. Can anyone suggest me a good  medical travel insurance from Nepal? I was looking at some options  like sevencorners  and all. Any experience/openion on this would be of great help. Thank you!!

R u sure you can write a sponsorship to your parents? I have heard Asylee don't have sponsorship right......

finish school and invite them. Also, i dont really think its good idea to invite parents.
