Hi, I'm a US citizen getting married in Nepal with a Nepali girl. I need to file I-130 with evidence of bona fide marriage to file for a K-3 visa for my spouse. Since the marriage happened in a short period of time, does anyone has any experience in this matter on how to strengthen my case? Do I need to consult any lawyers in US or Nepal? Also how much time does it normally take to get my spouse to the US? Thanks for your help.

I think you just got naturalized and you just want to show off. I am pretty sure you are a naturalized, didn't you go thru all this in past? People whoever gets citizenship thru green card they pretty much become a 'paralegal' unless you are a 'tube light'. No matter how quick you get married, if it is real, nothing to worry about just present some marriage ceremony pics.

aRT thanks for your feedbacks. I appreciate it. My situation is that I met her a month ago. Went out a few times liked each other and we are getting married. I'm bringing her as wife. So the time spent together is very small. smtzac I don't know why you said the first line. I'm pretty sure you understand how tough the immigration process might be and how easily you get denied. I want to make my case strong. I'm sure lot of Nepali people have been through this situation before and I'm just asking for advice. But I do appreciate your last advice. Thanks

I never heard of immigration right to spouse of citizen....As long as it is legit, there is no way they can deny it. U may have to put some extra document or little more fight, but they can't say you are not really married.

your marriage certificate from nepal should prove your relationship. like i mentioned in the previous post, include any documents that you can to show your relationship, like pictures together, and your wedding pictures etc. No detail is too much when trying to prove the relationship. on the final note, if you are marrying her in nepal, you have the option to go straight for permanent residency, instead of K visa

Thank you guys. aRT I was opting for K visa since it probably requires less time than green card. But I have no idea how much more time that is compared to K visa.

For a spouse of US Citizen, sponsoring as a spouse is the best route and K1 is not recommended as you are already married. Also, it saves you money in long run because K1 visa holders need to adjust here whereas spouse of a citizen come as a green card holder. Time wise Spousal petition might be just a couple of month longer. Bandita Sharma Dahal, Esq. www.philadelphiaimmigration.co

check the I-130 instructions what the documents are required. K1 visa is not recommended since you're married which also needs the further process in USA as well. I don't thing there will be big time different between US citizen married Vs K1 process. don't need a lawyer, follow the i-130 instructions, he will do the same what you do. need a proof of marriage ( i got mine from the metropolitan office / NagarPalika in English with the pictures of both), police report and other documents as requested. It's not hard if you follow the i -130 instruction.
