Does any body have idea how tax preparer, especially consulting firm, charge their tax filing fee? Or you can mention how much you pay for your tax filing assistance. I wanted to know how diverse the cost of filing might be. Thank you.

nine nine nine= $9.99 if you do yourself.
If you want me to do : I will charge 30.
How I will do it.
You will provide me the correct figures without reveleaing your personal information.
I will put it on tax filing software and I will make it ready to file.
You change it to your correct personal information including your ss number and you pay total 30 + 9.99= 39.99.
Anybody interested email me. If you are single boka will lower to half that will be 15 to me + 9.99= Total 24.99.
This is the deal for the whole season, if you ask me in April you have to add $ 10 extra.

@Ronaldo7 - That's right. For the basic - (both Federal and State) seems to be free. https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/

Now a days most tax filing software will let you do federal tax free but it may keep asking you to upgrade to premium from basic. No matter which tax filing software you use it will give you the same refund amount without upgrading ( refund may vary if you have complex ) still there should not be much different than tens not in hundreds.
Sounds Tubro Tax is giving free tax filing but you will not be filing free. Free is just a bait you if you can not file 1040 EZ it will cost you 34.99. It says 1040 EZ and 1040A., do you fall in these category ? If you do not people tend to finish once they started and may end paying 34.99 not 9.99 H & R Block, 14.99 TaxAct,com.

Porche: Federal are free but states are not. That 9.99 or 14.99 or 17.99 is for sate tax filing.

Started with turbo tax free edition, toward the end it said this free version will alow statdard deduction only while premium version will do itemized deduction which would give me 300 dollars more in return than this free version for which i would need to pay 35 dollars (for federal, state was 9 dolars as usual). Ditched the turbotax, went to olt.com which automatically filed with itemized deduction for free ( federal) and 9 dollars for state. Estimated refund is the same max amt turbotax was showing with premium costing 35 dollars.

Ronaldo: You must be filing single 1040 EZ. Free filing may have some conditions : once you do not fit on that condition it will cost you money. That cost may be higher than others.
