There has been many individuals who have started to have their own fundraisers to help in earthquake relief. There is no sense of accountability or transparency. I have heard that some people used the raised fund to buy ticket to Nepal and pay for all hotel expenses too. If you raise funds for earthquake relief you need to have transparency otherwise you are no better than the politicians of Nepal.

Agreed. This is why Government has required the fund from these "personal" fundraisers (not already registered in Nepal) should be directed to PM relief fund.

I have collected over 1200 dollars from my coworker and friends and donated the money to oxfam and redcross for the relief efforts in Nepal. I took a screen print of the confirmation and sent it as an evidence to all who had donated, while it was not necessary it was an ethical and a right thing to do. Not sure it vouchsafes my honesty, but I at least made sure everyone was in the loop of what is happening with their money. Now here is another scenario, a friend of mine from highschool who had always been a master manipulator and an evil person in every sense is raising money through gofundme. While I do not have an evidence whether he misused that money or not, given his history I have all reasons to believe he could have spent them for his personal benefits. Again, there is no evidence and he might as well have donated it, and that he might have overnight turned into a generous and altruistic individual but I have all reasons to be wary. What do I do in that case?

1) Talk to him. Get the answers/proofs. If the answers are not convincing take step 2. 2) Expose him to his donors and file the complaint against him in legal authority wherever he lives.

This is a good point. Even I felt awkward when some friends or acquaintance asked me to donate to their fundraiser. There is no transparency whatsoever, and it's awkward to ask your friend to show the details.
