Has anyone done this ? Please keep in mind this question is for those who have received EAD with no PRIOR SSN, and TPS approval hasn't come.

Once you have work permit you should be able to apply SSN. Because after work permit you need to work which needs SSN. Go to social security pffice with passport , EAD and TPs approved letter.

It would be better to do from same state as uscis needs your updated address which could put you on red zone if you don't update your new address. My friend is also having same issue
