Opened this thread to see how many OPT-EAD Folks whose TPS is approved. Comment below if you are in OPT EAD with case pending or OPT EAD whose TPS has already been approved! Your feedback is appreciated

@bhuntekaji: as I already mentioned mine is already been 8 months. Applying TPS with no TPS EAD requires more time for Nebraska processing center to process? Do you guys think that might have been the case?

@ StatusPidit I was on OPT. I applied my TPS without EAD in Sep and applied my TPS ead in Jan. But both are pending. I didn't apply TPS with EAD because I heard my OPT ead won't be valid after I get my ead through TPS and I had to join school within 60 days in order to maintain f-1 status. Am I missing anything or did I get the right info?

@helloo so you mean to say one has to be into enrolled into school 60 days after TPS EAD? can you elaborate more on that cause i recently applied for TPS EAD and was in OPT EAD and its getting close to 2 months since I had applied in feb 29 and still the case is pending. In that case can I cancel my case [TPS EAD] with USCIS

@ taremam_bhai I am sharing all of my experience based on my research and what I am going through. I applied for TPS and TPS ead separately because I figured out (research) that one can't have two valid EAD at the same time. So, if a person has a new EAD card through TPS then the old one will be invalid (such as if a student with OPT wants to go to school then in most cases his/her OPT Ead will be cancelled). I didn't see a helpful sign from my school advisor. Again, after doing research, I had to decide what I wanted to do. I focused on the rules for international students that is: a student must have SEVIS transferred/ or need to have an I-20 within 60 days and have to enroll within 5 months. What I mean is, you need to treat yourself as an international student if you wish to maintain your F-1 status. It may vary on schools. I know someone who was on OPT and got tps ead within 3 months (applied together). I personally wanted to be on the safe side. It's better to ask your school about this (just a suggestion). It's been such long time since I have applied. In your case you are still on OPT. I don't want you to feel stressed out. I am sharing all these things because I hope it will be helpful for you. I think you should do little calculation and take your own decisions, suitable for YOU cause every case is different (i am not an expert, just sharing). Right now, I am stuck because both my cases are taking freaking long time. Hope that helps GOOD luck

@bhuntekaji: Well one more thing I found out today that one can apply for TPS EAD 120 days before your EAD expires. Just saw my appointment and found out that the appoinment is on april 27.I will keep you guys in the loop and keep you updated. Today my godfeeling sensed that I need to check with my int advisor regarding it so i will call and ask her about my status to her just to be in the safe side. Bro really appreciated for your detailed explanation, it really helped a lot for me and other people on the same scenario to understand.

@hello Thanks a lot for those words bro, actually it helped me cool down a bit. In my case I couldnt choose between TPS EAD since I applied for EAD on March or april of 2015 and at that time TPS hadn't been given and only choice was OPT EAD. Anyway thanks for the information, I guess some other people in the thread also was glad to have that knowledge or information. Really appreciated. Jay Nepal

Hi! Everyone, My mine case is reverse one. Status: F-1 (Master degree graduating on 4/30/2016; non-stem) TPS and EAD Receipt Notice: July 29th, 2015 Biometric Appointment Date: August 18th, 2015 (Attended and in 48 hrs- EAD card shows in production) TPS EAD received: September 11th, 2015 TPS Approval Notice: October 19th, 2015 Started job from November 1, 2015 only after TPS got approved on October 12th. Same employer filed H1B for 2015 and 2016 but didn't get picked up for last two year H1B lottery. So, employer decided to file PERM under EB-2 instead of H1B once I am done with my graduate degree which is going to complete on 4/30/2016. Travel Document (I-131) Receipt Notice: December 31st, 2015 (Applied for Multiple entries with travel date 3/5-3/21, but couldn't travel because of change on Mid-term exam date) Travel Document (I-131) Approval Notice: March 1st, 2016 (Received two copies with multiple entries, valid till 12/24/2016. Note: I have noticed some people who applied for single entry, there travel document is valid for 3 months only) Applied for OPT EAD as per DSO recommendation to keep my I20 active. OPT EAD Receipt Notice: April 20th, 2016 Lets see what happens to my OPT EAD request. Some of my friends talked with USCIS and they notified that OPT EAD request might be rejected because of TPS EAD. I filed it to see what really happens to my F-1 status. I will keep on posting about it. I hope that you guys can give me some feedback too. Thanks.

Like I said earlier I had infopass session today and just came from the session to lemme tell you my experience. I really felt it like nepali sarkari office to be honest, my case was already outside normal proc time but they said its still in 6 months processing time. The asian guy who served me was new looks like and didnt knew much about the case and looks like he called in USCIS dept to ask for the case and that was it. He limited the information and looks like he had limited knowledge about the case. Nothing helped so far. Jay Nepal

Congrats @helloooo. Did you request any expedite case or infopass or ombudsman? I realized you applied for EAD on Jan..So, both EAD and TPS got approved?

Hi everyone, Yes, both of them are approved based on my online status. I have not received in mail yet. I applied my tps on 17th Sep, 2015 and ead on 19th Jan, 2016. I did request expedite for tps and ead but they rejected (two months time difference). I did service inquiry for my tps because it was more than 6 months. I had contacted ombudsman (probably 2 months back) but they didn't contact me till 45 days. Therefore, I emailed them. They had recently checked my case with USCIS. A month or so (because I didn't hear from ombudsman for a long time), I contacted congressman office. They got a reply saying it's in process. I didn't do all these together. There was 30 days or so time difference. If there is a job offer letter, I heard it might be helpful. I didn't want to push USCIS but I also wanted to use the suitable options in my case. I didn't go to see an officer though I wanted to. I hope I answered all of your questions.... Good Luck!

@ Sita Panta, Yes, it is legal to stay until a decision is made on your TPS application. However, you are not authorized to work if your opt ead expires and you haven't got your TPS EAD.
