Any recommendations on where to stay in the Silver Springs / Hyattsville / Lanham area of Maryland? Specifically apartment recommendations. Completely unfamiliar with the area, so I wanted to see if anyone has any insights. Thanks. - Infoseeker

I would say Lanham. I think Lanham is relatively cheaper and has good apartment. I heard there are some nepalese in Silver spring too. Thats all I know. I am also new in this area (Greenbelt).

Silver Spring is expensive. Hyattsville is the hub of the latino people and cheaper. You may also try near hillandale, white oak

check near the largo area. its close to DC and relatively cheaper than any surrounding. Price of a one-bed apartment at VA or Silverspring is a monthly payment of the 3-bed townhouse in Largo area. There are lots of new development going on. Check it 10 miles surrounding from Largo, you will find a still good price. but make sure do not go inside 495 beltway since there are lots of crime. Anywhere outside 495 beltway is very safe. I have been living here for 3 years never faced any issues. I am liking it so much so far.

Thank you for your replies, definitely helps a lot. If it is not too much to ask, can you name some apartments, which you have had good experiences with personally or have heard good things about? I have to commute to DC time to time, so being able to be close to the metro would be great. As I look for apartments online, I am primarily going off google ratings. These ratings are completely off base, because the same apartment that has a great rating on google, might have a really bad review on apartmentfinder.com or padmapper.com etc. Any insights would be much appreciated. Thanks. - Infoseeker

Yekku, I am looking for a one Bedroom apartment, probably for a year. Doesn't have to be super fancy, but not looking to stay in a hole in the wall kind of place, where someone gets mugged in the parking lot. Price range will depend on multiple factors, but for the sake of the argument, let say $1200-$1400 per month. Thanks in advance. Feel free to send me a private message if you want to. - Infoseeker
