An hour ago, Senate introduces the "Dream Act" to give green cards to 2 million dreamers.
But TPS are not included in the bill . The reason is court ruled today Feb 4, 2021 4pm,
Individuals with temporary protected status in the U.S. can’t receive a green card if they didn’t enter the country lawfully, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit ruled.
- TPS grantees must prove lawful U.S. entry, 5th Cir. says
- Supreme Court has granted review in similar case
Good LUCK!!!!
More than 100 Democratic lawmakers have urged the Biden administration to include a path to citizenship for undocumented essential workers, DACA recipients and those under temporary protection status in the pandemic relief bill currently being proposed. Despite their calls for action, House Democratic leadership is not signaling that it will adhere to their demands.

Dick Durbin will anger lots of TPS folks. 02.04.21 Durbin & Graham Introduce The Dream Act WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL), incoming Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) today introduced the Dream Act of 2021, which would allow immigrant students without lawful status who were brought here as children and grew up in the United States to earn lawful permanent residence and eventually American citizenship. Durbin and Graham introduced identical legislation in the last two sessions of Congress. These young people, known as Dreamers, have lived in America since they were children, built their lives here, and are American in every way except for their immigration status. However, under current law there is often no chance for them to ever become citizens and fulfill their potential. “It is clear that only legislation passed by Congress can give Dreamers the chance they deserve to earn their way to American citizenship,” Durbin said. “In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, more than 200,000 DACA recipients are ‘essential critical infrastructure workers.’ Among these essential workers are 41,700 DACA recipients in the health care industry. It would be an American tragedy to deport these brave and talented essential workers in the midst of this pandemic. I first introduced the Dream Act 20 years ago, and I’ll continue fighting until it becomes the law of the land. This is a matter of simple American fairness and justice. I thank Senator Graham for partnering with me again in this important bipartisan effort.” “For years, I have supported a solution for the Dream Act population who were brought to the United States by their parents as minors,” Graham said. “I do not believe this legislation will pass and be signed into law as a stand-alone measure. I believe it will be a starting point for us to find bipartisan breakthroughs providing relief to the Dreamers and also repairing a broken immigration system. I look forward to working with Senator Durbin and others to see if we can find a way forward.” The Dream Act of 2021 would allow these young people to earn lawful permanent residence and eventually American citizenship if they: Came to the U.S. as children and are without lawful status; Graduate from high school or obtain a GED; Pursue higher education, work lawfully for at least three years, or serve in the military; Pass security and law enforcement background checks and pay a reasonable application fee; Demonstrate proficiency in the English language and a knowledge of United States history; and Have not committed a felony or other serious crimes and do not pose a threat to our country.

This is just starting point. It will lead to a larger bill hopefully with TPS and some essential workers..... "Graham indicated in a statement Thursday he would like to pass the Dream Act not as a standalone bill, but rather as apart of a comprehensive immigration package."

Mangale Meter still validated: 80% chance of some kind of work permit 95% so... Current Mangale Meter shows: DACA 100% sure TPS 80% Rest 10% for some kind of Relief (greencard -75% temp. GC 80% or 3 years renewable work permit 95%)
NATIONAL TPS ALLIANCE RESPOND TO RE-INTRODUCTION OF DREAM ACT Nationwide- Earlier today, Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois introduced legislation which would provide a path to citizenship for DREAMers, but would exclude more than 400,000 beneficiaries of Temporary Protected Status. In response to the recent legislative proposal, Cristian Valle of the National TPS Alliance made the following statement: “We applaud Senator Durbin for recognizing the urgent need for Congress to start somewhere. And while it is great to see congressional leaders are acknowledging that I am deserving of a permanent residency, I come from a mixed status family, and my parents who are in purgatory with TPS and have been key contributors to this country for almost two decades also deserve green cards. Now. This is the reason why we will continue to push for TPS families and mixed status to be protected as a step to achieve full equality for all immigrants and refugees living and working in the United States. We will support any legislative mechanism which would guarantee a path to citizenship for my whole family.” – Cristian Valle, DACA recipient and son of TPS Holders, TPS committee of Newark, NJ ###

It is really sad. There are more than 130,000 TPS Holders are Serving as Essential workers during this Coronavirus crisis. Almost 20,000 are health care workers.
Why are supporting dreamers health care workers?
Democrats can put DACA, TPS on the Covid Relief bill, and more than 100 house Democrats also urge to do that.
We all know how Democrats work. Pure politics. So sad.

Agreed. If they skip TPS in this bill, and Dream Act passes, end of the any other immigration legislation. Joe Biden will be regarded as Ronald Reagan, and next year Democrat's need to save their asses in House for Mid term election. They should have included TPS in this bill. Liberians got greencard during Trump era when they sneaked that DED in the budget bill. Not sure why Dick Durbin punted on this one.

I don't see, why they need to give GC to tps holder. If they want to continue wining election, then dealing with dreamers only in limited fashion is best way to go. Mass immigration bill = Democrats out of house in mid term .
