What is your religion? Why do you choose to be this religion?

Also do you think the anti-conversion law should be changed in Nepal?

dreamz you must have not read this whole thread. You are being very one sided with your personal bias.

If you read the thread you would know I didnt start an argument. All i do is reply to defend my faith. People also keep asking me questions and I will answer them.

People have yet to answer duartis questions he asked long ago!

And no I am not a pastor at all. I am simply a college student. Thats it. I go to a regular college.

Andrew Bro,

I was born in a hindu family, so I am hindu by default. But I believe in no savior or destroyer idea watsoever. I read a lot of Bhatwat Geeta and any Buddhist religious book I can find cause they give me a basis to base my thoughts and help me develop my understanding of moral right and wrong. I do not want to change to other religion because I do not know much about them and neither have I read good things about them.

I do not believe in any religion that believes in someone called GOD. It might sound contradicting, yet it is not. If you go deeper in Hindu belief it boils down to Vedic lifestyle of self-discipline, and for Budhism it is understanding oneself and emancipating yourself from illusions. They believe in pursuing the real happiness. Hindu does it through stories, the actors of which it seems ppl mistake for gods and demons. So for unorthodoxed ppl like me, there are no god in either of the religions.

I choose this attitude, because I see no purpose of God in my life. I have hope and that suffices the need of having something in desperate times. I see no reason why I should live in some unknown dude's mercy at all the time, give credit of my good doings and bad doings to it; it just seems like a respectable and easy way of shying away from taking responsibility for ones actions.

Yet I go to temple, and take part in religious activities because it makes my parents and my granny happy. It does not cost me too much to do those things compared to the benefit I get in form of satisfaction by making ppl I love happy.

God has a charecter ? Like us humans ? Killing is killing be it good or bad. What important reason those peole at the foot of Mt Sainai perished for ? Idol worshiping ? You don't see it from your human side that its fair to kill someone bcause of their belief ? So its ok for you go kill some because they are not Christian and ask for God's forgiveness and evrything will be happy and dandy ? Isen't Jesus called Son of god ? Since he lived amongst us, I think its fair to say Jesus was like us. Which in turn bring Us the humans in the same level as god...is it not. Like we we kill someone(by accident or purposedly), we have to face the consiquence(goto jail, or death) but when god kills its ok ? Once again goes against THOU SHALT NOT KILL.

Andy,

Get some life dude...you cannot coerce people believe your way....what your call your religion is not a religion at all...especially for you...it is fanaticism. I see god in myself and devil too...it just depends what I wanna be. Some one above truly said "man bata raawan nikala ram bhetincha". You are your own jesus dude, can't you see that now? I believe I am god when my heart bleeds for needy people, and when I actually help them. Along with that, I am jealous at times, I am infuriated at you when I read your postings, I visually rape beautiful women and rob millionaires in my thoughts..... that is my worse half, wish I could set it on fire.

Therefore, bottomline is... there is no such goddamn thing as religion, religion is for those people who need a gimmick to live their life and for those who always find an excuse to nullify their wrongdoings by becoming pious.

Oh boy .. I never thought this string could get so long ...

Well, I have nothing new to say right now. I am not a great argumentator/arguer (whatever the word is) like Andrew bro or manab sis .. so I will stay on the sideline as an observer. And besides, my home computer is on the blink and the Dell guys tell me they are sending over some parts to be replaced. so for a few days, library jindabad. Keep it up folks .. the arguments are good .. just try to stay clear of slanders and mudslinging. We should keep it to a clean'n'healthy level. And okay, I can be liberal about the anti-jesus jokes ... well I will come back with a joke of my own but ..maybe tomorrow. I gotta go home right now.

Manab sis, was that you who emailed me? Didn't recognize with you with your different email handle. Was my reply of any help to you?

The best post/argument in this thread were by m4madhu and xxx, which were made long before. Religion has undoubtedly become a scissor which has severed mankind into several fragments. Still various new religions/cults and beliefs are sneaking in, causing irrepairable fractures among humans. Actually, humanity is the greatest religion among all which encompasses all other man made religions. Humanity is like a universal set and all other religions are sub sets. Religions like Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Christianity teach about love and brotherhood but all of them lack one quality or the other. Humanity is the one which can contain the teachings of all religions. We have to help to help fellow humans not due to the greed of going to heaven, but because helping others is good. I feel helping humans is worshipping God, because God resides inside everyone.

Hushpuppy, you are wrong. Its actually time to be stong in our faith. You will not understand what I am telling you unless you read the Bible. If you have time read the book of Revelation (the last book of New Testament). Whatever is going on in the world right now (earthquake, Tsunami.....) is the sign of the end of the world.

So be ready to face the consequenses.

All you people are talking about religion but then relating it to humans. All this pope and pastors and bishops are humans like you and me and obviously they make mistakes. Many of them make religion their way of earning money and becoming popular. There is nothing surprising if they dod anything wrong because they are not Gods for us.

We believe in only one God and we believe that he understands human failures.

Also for coffee: i think little knowledge is always dangerous and it is bad assume everything based on your little knowledge. Moses was also just a human and he was only used by God for the mankind. You need to read the whole story to understand this.

I feel that you people are prejudiced to see religion as bad bad thing only. the best people who practice the religion are the ones who are simple and mind their own business and care for others. Unfortunately these people never come in the media and we never know about it.

So guys, just see things from different light and following religion is not a bad idea at all. At least i have leared that.

Also dautari, i have never written a mail to you...sorry

It's okay, manab. someone mailed me and I just wondered if it was you. It's okay.

Well, as for Terri Schiavo case, what's wrong in choosing life over death? And the whole thing is actually blown out of proportion because of the money involved. In fact, both parties don't care much about Teri .. they only care about money, which Michael has now.

As for the Pope, I admire his determination although I am not a Catholic. To his last breath he is trying to fulfill his duty. But of course, I can't expect everyone to share my point of view.

And yesterday, I promised you a joke. After Christ-bashing, I think it's time for a little repartee. So here goes ...

So there were these three men - a Christian, a Muslim and a Hindu...gone fishing out on the sea in a small boat. Suddenly, there was a huge storm and it looked as if they were doomed for good. Then the Christian guy started praying to God and begged to be rescued. Sure enough, Jesus reached out and pulled him away to the safety of terra firma. Then the Muslim started praying to Allah and his Allah also came and rescued him. Seeing this the Hindu guy also decided to pray. He prayed to Shiva to come and rescue him. As Shiva was about to get up from his seat in Kailash, that guy called out to Vishnu. Then Shiva went back to his seat thinking Vishnu will go to his rescue instead. Then the hindu guy prayed for mercy from Indra. Hearing this Vishnu also went back to his bed of Shesh Naag leaving Indra to mount Airavat the elephant. Then teh Hindu guy called to Ganesh ... and so on .. and he called so many gods that by the time one of the gods decided to make a real move ... .. it was too late ... only Yamadoot had come .. to take him to Yamalok.

(Now I will disappear from here before everyone starts hurling the verbal daggers at me ... I am gonna run for my life .. run!!!)

Gentle Dautari:

I love your optimism and your humor. Keep believing in your faith, whatever it is; if it has succeeded in making you a better human being the purpose of faith has been served.

As for you Andrew,
you can't convert anyone with pair of crossed sticks. You might learn somethings from your less radical peers. Flashing a bible at every turn is only going to get you belligerance. And oh, by the way... they've stopped crowning saints in the heavens so you might as well stop hoping for sainthood and go do some thing substantial.

"Thou shalt not preach against other religions!" Live and let live!

AndrewBro:
The path you have taken is totally misguided. Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam or anything except christianity is the only right way. I want to convert you back to something else. Please for Allah's sake try to understand. I am telling you this for your own sake. Do not follow Christianity as it is a very inferior religion compared to anything else. How do you feel now ?
