Despite the 14 years of democracy in Nepal, the promised ideals who supposed to have brought significant changes in the country, has yet to reach fruition. Engulfed in corruption, politicians? insatiable desires for material possessions have led to a loss of civic pride in the Nepalese people, spoiling the attempts of democracy. Democracy for many of us, had become an asset as granted?so it was not that surprising when a taxi driver charging us more than what exactly appeared in his meter giving a silly reason ?K Garne Bahudal ayeko cha? The ideals underlying education are essentially similar to those underlying democracy, suggesting that schools should embody principles of democracy for students as part of a sound education. Changes in social conditions make this requirement even more important today. School practices, however, are far from democratic in most cases, even though the arguments against democratic practices are not strong. A better educational system should therefore be worked out which will present the possibilities of human living in such a manner that barriers will be broken down, prejudices removed and trainings given to the developing child which will enable him, when grown up, to live with other men in harmony and goodwill. This can be done, if patience and understanding are developed and if educators realize that "where there is no vision, the people perish".

We should be aware of right and wrong. It is we who elect them and later blame them. I think it is us, who were completely unprepared for democracy and the politicians took every possible advantages of that and rest is the current result now. We have to realize, was that good to rallying behind propoganda like Hritik Roshan or stuffs like that.Who the hell Hritik Roshan is and why we kill each other for whatever statement like that? It is all politics and Nepalese people do not know it.Lets not talk about democracy if we don't know how it works. We have to do lot of homework before we go for it and the kind of politicians and leaders we have, I doubt they could bring us to right path.

I think it is a weak law of Nepal that motivated failure of democracy in the country. When leaders like Girija Prasad who does not obey the notice of Supreme Court how can we expect the other to obey it? Wish our corrupted politicians should have been in the country like in USA where they could have found 24 hours job behind the bar. Our law should be enforced to prevent people coming in the politics who have been to jails and who do not have master degree education. I, as an undergraduate student, will be fulling around if I try to teach a PHD degree holder. Let the educated, clean image people lead the nation. Otherwise those corrupted people make us worse than them.

While I agree with Ravina's statement that Nepal lacks law or enforcement of it, I, as an answer to this statement and what you have raised very wisely, like to say this: rightful laws are there; and implementation is there too but what is lacking is the goodwill and moral obligations of Nepali people. We have to change our attitude completely: we have to learn to respect rules and laws; respect others; respect everything. We, Nepali, are self-interested animals; we care little about others, that is us, I am afraid. Moral education and discipline is foundation for democracy, development and peace.

Servesh Bro is right. We the people gave them scotch free treatment. People like NEWUSERS (who is either mandale or Mao) who thinks Democracy will solve everything. They dont realize that 14 yrs of democracy has failed us because of our incapacity. It is the people that makes a difference. I believe peace and security are most important things. When we have both of them, it gives us all a room to grow with better education and stronger economy. With good economy and education, we can have a solid foundation for democracy. Look at Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan or even Malaysia. During 50s, 60s and 70s, their concerns were national security. They realize only way they can be strong is with better education and economy. Today theese nations are wealthy and practise strong democracy. But dont forget security is there No. 1 goal. That's why there is a mandatory for all kids to join the military when they reach 18 in Singapore, Taiwan, and South Korea. Like we all love to say it " Sojo Aula le Giu niskideina." I believe democracy means nothing if we are just not ready for it. In fact it will backfire like we saw in the last 14 years. I would rather have some strong and visionary leader who can guide us.

Why democracy fail in Nepal? (1) Corruption: Open and freely corruption by Ministers, government officers or employees, leaders of political parties, and illegal business people. Constitution, legal and justice are useless. (2) Crimes: Open and freely commit crimes by Ministers, government officers or employees, leaders of political parties and illegal business people as well as police and law makers. Law, orders, rule and regulation are completely dead. (3) Racism or Bahunism: Open, freely and systemic racism in Nepal constitution, government employments, political system, governmental system, social, cultural, educational and religion. Because heavy and open racism Native Nepalese tribes never ever able to lift-up their social life. Some true Nepalese tribes are still live in Jungle. It was mean to by Nepalese Bahun race of Nepal. (4) Illiterate majority population: More than 70% Nepalese population under illiterate. Only 20% are just holding diplomas and certificates, Just only 10% are well educate people in whole population of Nepal. That means, More or majority population are stupid than skilful or intelligences. Majority of stupid dominates to minority of well educate or intelligences people. Definitely, result of democracy must be failed in Nepal. What do you think?

Third, in 1990 nepalese people brough new Democracy, Freedom, Peace and Human Rights by giving their lives. So many innoceant people died and so many true devoted Nepalese get killed by panchayati crooks. But these all crooks became a members of Nepali Congress Party. Girija welcomed to all panchayati crooks and he ignore future problem within party. So Nepali Congress Party has all kind of Nepalese Crooks. In 1990, All political parties, All people and international countries supported to Girija P. Koirala, but he was uneducated, irresponsible, vision-less, moral-less, zero leadership, selfish, stupid. So he did not respect Nepal and Nepalese people. He did not care Democracy, Freedom and Human Rights. His and his party's corrupt and criminal acts force to fail Nepali Democracy. Then Maoist born....

REASON WHY DEMOCRACY FAILED IN NEPAL: More than 50% political old leaders earn education from BANARAS, India. Banaras is only good for study of Hindu religion. Not for other things. So these stupid leaders learned Sanskrit, Hindi, Hindu religions, India history, English etc. These Nepalese leader do not about Political Science, Ethics or Moral, Social science, Economy, Business, Marketing, Management, Leadership, Public Speaking, Project Research and Management, Law, Justice and Human Rights. How the hell they become good leader of Nepal? Naturally and Technically, these Nepalese leader must be corrupt, criminal, crook, vision-less, irresponsible, moral-less, stupid and selfish. And when these people rule Nepal?.. What do we expect from them? Result must be always FAILED or Negative. So we can see just in front of our eyes.

I strongly disagree with "youstandup". Benares Hindu University of India was first established as "Banaras Engineering College (BENCO)", I guess second only to Thommason College of Civil Engineering, Roorkee. Later it started to include all the faculites and currently offers all levels of higher education in almost all fields. Its faculties are world reknowned while Engineering faculty is considered the most reknowned of all. Our beloved Late King Birendra was also a graduate of Benares Hindu University. Since its time of establishment it has given the world great thinkers and researchers like Prof. Anil K Chopra whose work in the field of Earthquake Engineering is phenomenol. Besides there are other famous Nepalese people who are graduates of BHU and have contributed towards development of Nepal. As always there are always some bad political groups who rather than study start politics in college. The people who you are talking about like BP and most others who were more the assylum seekers in those days started their political career. This has given BHU bad name in Nepal. Had they learnt about discipline or moreover had they studied there instead of DANGAFASAAD, they could have made Nepal much better place to live in. But people like them simply gave the Nepalese students very bad name in the prestigious history of BHU.

Dear Nepali dajubhai and didibahini, Don't worry about what is happening in Nepal. Shame on you, guys who are living and studying abroad and trying to advocate Democracy or Democrazy. If you are a true Nepali, and have a gut to serve for the country, go there and do it yourself for yourself and others. There is no point talking about 'democracy, patriotism, nationalism and so on'. What Nepali people facing now is struggle; struggle to freedom, struggle to live as a Nepali citizen, struggle to get food, shelter and clothes. If the government can not provide these, they have to fight against the system and its 'fool' rulers. Both Maoists and political parties are fighting for the minimum basic rights of the Nepali people; though differently. With the whole security forces at his disposal, the king is worsening the already-worst situation of the country. Why can we do our 'bit' to save the country and protect human values rather than talking nonsense?

idiots do u know what B.P has done for the country? Mahendra has always been in the way of development of nepal since he wouldn't be credited for the development. one example is dimond shamsher's trying to develop lalit pur in the 60's. Mahendra didn't allow any development until he was credited. do u really think it was Mahendra's plan to built the road from east to west in the tarai? if you think than read the history again. The King of nepal has never done anything good for the country beside opening the swiss bank account. do u think Birendra gave the democracy to nepalese? well! if u think that than i've deep sympathy for you cause u were taught the wrong history. the people forced him for the democracy if he hadn't decleared the democracy royal was about to be extint in nepal cause lalitpur kirtipur and bhaktapur in the valley and major cities outside kathmandu valley had already decleared republic. it was people within kathmandu city who wanted monarchy (many were decendent of palace's slaves). If there were no democracy many of you who are in foreign country living lavish life wouldn't have gotton the chance cause to make a passport u had to know some stupid panche. so think again before u criticise democracy idiots

It is understandable that Love, Peace, Joys, Democracy, Freedom and Human Rights for Nepal and Nepalese. But in obviously on reality, Corrupt and Criminals Nepalese use Peace, Democracy, Freedom and Human Rights as a free, easy and effective tool of survival. And these criminal crooks Nepalese make Nepal as a safe heaven. That is might be the reason India, Britain and America... pulled off their hand and legs from Nepal when they deep understand and realize about reality that they are getting into deep problems. Like when you falling love with beautiful woman, finally you find out that she was actually street bitch and durgiest.
