Nepal provides token assistance to US hurricane victims
The government has announced an assistance of USD 25,000 for the victims of Katrina hurricane that hit three southern US coastal states last week.

Its a goodwill gesture and whatever the amount is, it matters. In her speech, Condi so sentimentally mentioned Sri Lanks's name and the amount it contributed (same $25k) and added that Sri Lanka itself was devastated by Tsunami a few months ago.

Just for info,
Celine Dion, a Canadian singer (of the Titanic fame >> My heart goes on...) was probably the first celebrity to pledge help, she already handed over a cheque of US $1 million. Public fundraising in Canada is estimated to cross CDN$ 10 billions.

अब नेपालबाट त अरु के पठाउनी त ? भोलुन्टियर पठाए सबै "म पनि बाढीपिडित" भन्दै लुक्ने होलान ।खानेकुरा पठाए FAO standards मा खानै नहुनी निस्केला ।

I am glad that Nepal has been able to contribute us $25k despite being one of the poorest country in the world. I am sure US will surely take note of Nepal's goodwill gesture and will surely reciprocate with aids in the future.

The recent donation for the Katrina victims by the Nepal govmernment proves our generosity as a great nation. The amount may be very tiny compare to those big Bs & Ms, but the gesture that has shown by our country is priasable.Proud to be a Nepali!

कमसेकम १ लाख डलर सम्म दिएको भए पनि राष्ट्रको रुपमा नाक त रहन्थ्यो होला, १ लाख डलर पनि दिन नसक्नीले के देशको नाममा पैसा दिन पर्यो? स्मरण रहोस, यस भन्दा अगाडि नेपालले जहाँ पनि सहयोग गर्दा १ लाख डलर नै दिने गर्दथ्यो, जुन amount विकासशील राष्ट्रहरुको norm जस्तै नै हो । के नौटङ्की गरे ज्ञानेन्द्र र तुलसी गिरीले, लाजमाथि लाज थपिने गरि ।

You are very right about saying what our Government did when 12 of our people got killed in Iraq. Now, I see this is as no more than King paving his way to get attention on his forth coming trip to NY. From his past deeds,we call can guess how big SADAYANTRA KARI he is. He is a complete jerk and its a shame that we all have to live with this....

Well if Nepal had donated, this site doesn't mention that, how come??
