Kind of surprised that there is no halla for protests and even black flags when Indian Leaders are in Nepal. There was a protest when your own countrymen was in New York, but when indians are coming to Nepal then nothing.... What happened to samudaya.org people? They say they didn't sponsor the event but looks like they are involved heavily. So what happen???Why no protest in INdian Embassy....What happened to the organizers of so banauda protest?

Wel guys, there has been a lot of discussuion on whether Nepal survives or not san India.......pade queen no. whatever seems to be championing the cause of most of the benarasi-bred nepali leaders today. Ofcourse , Nepal is close to India socially, geographically and ecoomically. But it will be suicidal to hand over Nepal's politics to India. India never wanted a stable government in Nepal. She wanted Nepal to be an umbrella state,. Courtesy of under-visioned leaders and so calles maoists of our country , India is succeeding.

Pade, If you talk about luck, we are just unlucky not to have an ocean. Indians are lucky not to be Brit colony and so on. SO you argument does not hold any relavance. Back to the topic, if Indians shut the border, Nepal will be in daire state. But they will not have any reason for it if we do not interfer in their matters. But on the otehr hand they are interfering in Nepalese matters. They should never meddle in Nepalese matters. There will be struggle and fight until there is njustice. This is the mantra any powerful nation should know. Look at Israel, they are finally backing off after such a long war. India is power player in South Asia. There is no doubt about it. But we need leadership that do not let India take advantage of Nepal in each and every treaty.

It seems u guys have no other work to do than getting mad at India. We have thousands of other problems to tackle to bring Nepal safely to the shore. India is a non-issue. Someone above has compared Israel with Nepal --------l I feel like laughing. We are not surrounded by hostile Muslim nations like Israel from within and outside. We are being eaten by our own internal problems - the parasites are within us. They are not invading from outside. U all getting mad at India is not going to affect her a wee bit. What happened during Hritik kanda. we fools ended up destroyed our own things.

Pade, I think your last post was directed to me as I was the one who brought an example of Israel. I agree that we cannot take on India and we are in deep shit because of parasites in the name of leaders. But again if youlook at the India's record its not clean. Bhutan, her econmy and security is totally controlled by India. Sikkim used to be separate country but its leaders sold it out to India. India's support to LTTE during Indira Gandhi's era. India's army deployment into Sri Lanks. Raw and ISI gang bang in Nepalese terrotory. Nepalese territory enroachment in border. Damns that do not follow international rule. So, we do not have an honest neighbor. But every other country will take advantage of the weaker country. Thats the histroy and thats just natural. So, we gotta stand up for our rights. Use the diplomatic means. The negotiation with Girja is too skeptical. Cynical nature of Girija has been proved over and over again. Other thing is the one who visited Nepal were communits who had a meeting with maoists. So, people has every right to be skeptical and raise their voice and ask the questions about the motives. Peace

The question "Can Nepal survive without India" has already been answered in action. In Sajha we only have words. It has been proven in reality by late Rajiv Gandhi to Marich Man Singh and Late Birendra Shah. Go ask your fathers and mothers. They'll tell you how they survived on pauroti and pani. For those who have no clue what I am talking about, RNA acquired weapons from China w/o consulting India first. Rajiv Gandhi closed the borders. No Petrol. No Diesel. No Kerosene. No Cooking Gas. No Medicines. No Vegetables. No Soap. No Toothpaste. No question whether Nepal can survive w/o India. That does not mean that we have to bend over and let them have their way though. A hostile India means Nepal is doomed just like an unstable civil war torn Nepal means that India (though not doomed) has major problems. Accepting the truth in this case and living with pride and dignity are not mutually exclusive.

ok all the pro-indian people out there, the political leaders are now seeking india's help coz they want the king out.but the nepali people are aware of india's dream of having nepal as second sikkim.so no matter how much ever india tries to be chummy with nepal, the distance caused by mistrust will always be there.and yes, the pro-indians, u are not going to have second sikkim.

PDQueen, I read your comments. It is just as disturbing as someone telling you that the house you own is not actually yours it is your neighbors just because the neighbor is rich, and unfortunately you have to pass the neighbors house to get to!! It is as ridiculous as it could be. Your exit statement is just as ridiculous. You comment with "no comments" and your point is??? You are right we have many problems that we have to deal with but the major problem unfortunately is dealing with Indian foreign policy towards Nepal.

My last comment: If u really love nepal please go and distribute contraceptives whih should last for a whole year to at least 5 rural households back home. It's not india, it's our population growth sans any economic growth that's killing us. what about agrarian reform? first give security to the people of nepal - food, potable water and basic amenities for survival. give them education esp. the females.

Indian Expansionism: Harmful for Peace in South Asia The encroachment of Nepalese land in Susta VDC, Nawalparasi clearly demonstrates how India is trying to take advantage of current political mess in Nepal by encroaching Nepalese territory. While Indian embassy's staffers in Kathmandu keep themselves busy trying to paint India's friendly attitude by providing funds to build bridges and inaugurating school buildings in terai, their government in New Delhi makes Nepalese pay for the financial aid provided to Nepal by ripping off their national identity. However, what could be the better time than this to encroach a smaller state's territory? Political parties are wrestling with King to grab the power and king is flexing his muscle to maintain status quo. New Delhi does understand that neither political parties that are busy protesting in the street nor King residing in the Narayanhiti trying to garner India's support can afford to displease India by voicing their concern over Susta. As both the warring parties are trying their best to remain in good books of India, poor in Susta are forcibly getting converted into Indian citizens without much opposition from the government and political parties that are meant to fight for the citizens right. Citizens of Susta are the recent victims of bullish and oppressive policies of the Indian expansionists. Nepal is not only the nation that is having a border dispute with India. India has an ongoing border dispute with China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Nepal. Although, the areas in contention with China and Pakistan are among the largest existing land boundary disputes in the world. The Indo-Bangladeshi contention over New Moore/South Talpatty Island and Indo-Nepali dispute over Kalapani and Susta involve comparatively small area. But the point here is not how big or small the area of dispute is. It's about the India's attitude towards it neighbors in the region. With three-quarters of the landmass, population and economy of the region, India has developed a bullish and hegemonic attitude towards its neighbor. Even after having fought wars with China and a recent war (Kargil) over Kashmir with Pakistan, India has not acknowledged the importance of peaceful coexistence. In addition to the already existing issues such as Kalapani which has been forcibly occupied by the Indian army; the Laxmanpur Barrage that has resulted in the flooding of Nepalese villages; the Mahakali treaty that is unfairly loaded in favor of India, the recent Susta encroachment exhibits India's increasing lust over foreign territories. What New Delhi should understand is, national boundaries are symptomatic of wider bilateral relations and manifestations of national identity. They can be trip-wires of war. The seething anger of the people of China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Nepal against the Indian expansionism may burst into the open any time in near future. The people of these countries in order to ascertain their self respect and nationalism can burst open and harm Indian interests and establishments in their respective countries and the region as they did during the Hritik Roshan Fiasco in Nepal. The anti-Indian feeling in Nepal is at the highest level and the Nepalese citizens are bitter to the core. India should realize that relationship built on genuine equality and mutual respect, is the only guarantee for peace and development in South Asia. Hari Bansha Dulal is a doctoral student of Environmental Science and Public Policy at George Mason University, Virginia, USA. (From TELEGRAPH - nepalnews.com)

RAW is enemy of Bangaladesh, China, Nepal and Pakistan Dr. Sabitri Chaudhary - 8/21/2005 I..K. Gujral, former prime minister of India and Nepal's friend, was sent off to Russia during the late Indian prime minister Indira Gandhi's era. He was trained under the Russian Communist ideology and was assigned to look after a project called RAW whose objective was to build a strong Indian spy network in Asian and achieve Indian stronghold in the region. The modus operandi of RAW was to interfere in the neighboring nation's internal affairs in such a way that they are engulfed in their won internal affairs and India could freely interfere in their internal affairs; encroach their border as well. The recent publication of a false report on the Internet against Nepal and Pakistan shows how unprofessionally this organization is operating. Though the Indian government has denied any official bearing on the report, when over it comes in terms to the issue related to Nepal, the Indian foreign policy makers, ruling parties, opposition parties and the media unite together share a common negative perspective against Nepal. This way, it can never be accepted that the India government had no hands in publicising the report. The fabrication of fictional characters and their terrorist activities are woven with such a lie that any civilized and democratic nation anywhere in the world would find it amusing to see the seasoned Indian propagandists lose so much of their credibility. RAW interfered in Sri Lanka affairs and the impact it created is still disturbed the peaceful country, was almost split in to two nations. As the saving goes, "he who's the witch acts as the witch acts as the witch doctor himself", the present Indian BJP government has now allotted USD $ 10 million as aid to the Sri Lanka government which is a paradox. Bhutanese refugee problem in Nepal was also formulated by RAW from which Nepal is suffering a lot. RAW is also assisting the Nepali Maoists movement in supplying weapons and conducting guerrilla training and identifying remote and inaccessible 22 districts like Rolpa, Rukum, and Jajarkot for easy Maoists operation. Though Sri Lanka has been granted economic aids, the BJP government on the other hand neither takes any initiative to solve the root cause there nor does it speak anything against the Tamil Nadu leader Karuna Nidhi of DMK to stop his activities in Sri Lanka. India is also not free from the risk of being split up from problems with ULF As and Kashmiries. But to cover it all up, to put an illusion on its own citizens, the government is performing all these theatrical gestures like providing donations to Sri Lanka. Unlike the Himalayan Blunder of 1962, the late Prime Minister Rajeev Gandhi had to enforce his military force into Sri Lanka to settle problems which India itself had created earlier. Later, the Indian army was compelled to pull out in defeat bearing a loss of more than 1500 army personnel. As the saying goes: "those who plan poison tree well later be eaten up by the same tree", Rajeev Gandhi was assassinated by the Tamils themselves. Likewise, late Indira Gandhi also had planted a poisonous tree in the name of Saint General Singh Vindarwala. The interference of the Indian forces in the holy Punjabi Golden Temple in Amritsar, the killings of the separatists all added up to the assassination of Indira Gandhi. It is because the poisonous tree she had planted earlier had grown old and she couldn't uproot it. This is the price the Indian are paying for separating Bangladesh from Pakistan. The Pakistanis are now in possession of nuclear weapons. Maybe they didn't succeed in making Punjab and independent nation, but they won't let Kashmir issue passes away easily. Like 'tit for tat' the Pakistani Inter Service Intelligence (ISI) is there to counter the RAW. There are so many spy networks working under-cover of diplomatic mission. But still Nepal has not been able to carry out any action against Raw. On the other hand, the situation in Bangladesh is also not stable. The People's Republic of China is also fighting Muslim separatists and it is being extra sensitive to the Indian politics. Down south, the military government of Burma is also facing separatist power though they are suppressing their people by military rule. What I want to point out from all the above scenarios is "What is the sole element responsible for such instability? The ultimate cause is the infamous organization RAW and its unethical activities. Because of not only the Bangaladesh and Pakistan are are suffering but also even Indian herself is in a big trauma and has already started explaining about cross border terrorism. Dr. Sabitri Chaudhary resides in Nepal. - http://www.globalpolitician.com/articleshow.asp?ID=1110&cid=6&sid=80
