I feel so uneasy when Indian leaders come to Nepali streets and speech in Hindi. They come to Parties general convension and decide for Nepali politics. Royalists invites, "Shiv Shena" and "BJP", to speech on Hinduism; where as political partries invites their supporters to abuse the King. Shame on both! I doubt whether we are an independent countries. I have many Indain freinds, I love them and respect them but I don't like Indian foreign policy. Of course, leaders of every country (unlike ourse), think of welfare of their people. Do you think Indan leaders care for our democrasy? I don't think so. They just think of their people and country's welfare. If they really care for democrasy, why don't they care for the democrasy of Bhutan? Autocrat king of Bhutan was invited as a cheap guest of last Indian Independence day. Autocrat king of Soudi Arabia was the cheap guest for the latest Independence day. Pakistan, Bhutan, Burma are other three autocrasies around India, why don't Indian leaders go there and speech in Hindi for democrasy? Suresh Ale, Kiran, and Matrika Yadav were caught and imprisened. Why didn't they caught Baburam and Prachanda while faciliting talk? It's complete double standard. Why Bhutani refugies were allwed to leave Bhutan and are not allowed to enter Bhutan? We are not patriotic. We are very selfish. One day I was talking about politics with one of Indian friends. As I told him that India was doing injustice with Kashmir, he said it was India's problem not of Nepal. I appreciate him how he defended his country. Shame on us! King is wrong, we all know it. We are wrong as well, that we must realize as soon as possible. We should not let Indans to abuse our king. No matter how bad is he, he is our king. He is our. He is our. He is our. Even if your brother is bad, you should protect him from outsider. I remember an old story of Mahabharat. Kauravas and Pandavas were causins but enamies. Once Kauravas were attacked and imprisened but Pandavas rescuied them. Udhistar, the oldest Pandav said, "We are 105 for outsiders". Even though the story is old but it makes a lot of sense. I have many Indian friends, very best ones, but regarding My courntry, my fellow citizen, my king, I am very protective. Last November I was in Bombay, one of the Indian told me that Nepal is India dependent. There are over couple of hundreds of thousands Nepali working in Mumbai. I told him that one Indian brings from Nepal what two Lakh Nepali people takes from India. Otherwise, your country would have changed the treaty. I won't let my wrong father or weak brother to be insulted by others, though I may fight with him to bring him in the right track. Tell me any Indo-Nepali treaty which is in our favor? Why would they speak for our democrscy? I don't hate Indian brothers and sisters. They are ours. However, regarding National interest, I don't like their interference. Rising economy of Indian is not for all Indians. They have so many problems of their own within their country. Asam Seperatist, Indian Moists, Bihari Daku, Megalaya seperatist, Nagaland seperatist, Kashmiri seperatist, Hindu-Muslim hatered, Caste system, poverty, illetracy, you name it. They (Indian leaders) should focus on them, they should not be diverted. We want to see them happy because they are ours.

Nice naration Vishnontar, this is one area where we have failed to understand and realize that everyone safeguards its own interest so is India. However, what we fail as Nepalese is to; have a collective interest and the guts to defend it.

Thanks KK ji for your few words. I am so sorry for the mistakes of my last posting :). I hope you might have corrected them while reading. I was in a big hurry yesterday. However, the message I wanted to deliver is clear. I want democracy by my own effort. The way Indians are treating us is the result of the way we behave with them. Ashok Singal came in royal invitation and spoke for the King and the royalists; that was problemstic for parties. Now praties are inviting Indian leaders to speak for them, which is troublesome to king and royalists. King and his aids has no point to react on this. Both are inviding outsiders inside their home to speak for them. How shortsightedness! Shame on both! See a paragraph of one of the reputed Indain newspaper. Are we country or one of the states of India? This is the result of our won acts. I never blame other, I blame to our own weaknesses. There are certain responsibilities that devolve on India in the rapidly changing situation in Nepal. While taking a principled stand, Delhi must not fear the charge of intervening in the internal affairs of Nepal. Indian interests in Nepal, especially in the well-being of the Nepalese people , cannot be denied. site Indian leaders speech on Nepali street for the freedom of Media. Why don't they go to their own street? Read the condition of media in one of the largest democracy of the world. केंद्रीय सूचना और प्रसारण मंत्री प्रियरंजन दासमुंशी का कहना है कि निजी एफ़एम रेडियो स्टेशनों को अभी कम से कम दो-तीन साल ख़बरें प्रसारित करने का अधिकार नहीं दिया जा सकता. site We have to be very smart, very very smart to exist between India and China. We don't know what we have, but they know what we have. They can see tomorrow but we can not see tomorrow. We don't have leaders with vision, all are मरो गोरुको बारै टक्का. We have to grow up now, otherwise we will left with nothing. Indian leaders are very cunning and cleaver. They will never come to Nepal without their interest. Out of six neighbours of India, five are autocracy; Nepal, China, Pakistan, Myanmar, and Bhutan. Only Bangladesh is democracy. Why Pakistani Autocracy is not problemestic to them? Why Bhutani autocracy isn't headache to them? Why Myanma's army rule dosen't bother them? Why Chainese communism is not troublesome to them? Its only Nepali autocracy which is problemastic for India. Why????????? Can Indian leaders go to Bejing and say the same thing to Hu Jintao, who is also autocrat like king G, the same thing what they said to King G? Because we are poor and powerless country that's why they can say anything to our head of the state. Shame on those who invites those foreigners! Shame on those who cheers on the insult of their head of state! Actually head of the sate is also a part of this tradition. There are people who want to live with pride, let us live with pride.

What could possibly be their interest? May be Hydro-power! Economy of every country depends on its energy. Energy is defined by the work done capacity. Work = Money. India doesn't have sufficient renewable energy resources. It dosen't have enough nuclear fuel as well, neither it does have sufficient petrolium (80+% imports). 60+% of its electricity is from coal. She is very rich in coal. However, coal is not renewable, one day it will be finished. Before that, India will have to sign Kyoto Protocol, which is anti-green house effect treaty. By the time India signs Kyoto Protocol, if there is no breakthrough of technology (proespective solar energy has just 10% efficiency), it will run out of energy. This won't take long time. They are desperately looking for permanent source of energy for future. India doesn't have sufficient water for other purposes as well. What if Nepal use up big amount of water to irrigate her field during the season of cultivation? India will be in trouble. Next thing is Hydrogen economy. Because of green house effect, tomorrow it will be illigal to burn gas cells. Our atmosphere will be filled with CO and CO2 gases. Tomorrow's fuel will be Hydrogen. It is extracted from water by electrolysis process. If you have electricity, you can get hydrogen fuel. Nepal has 83,000+ Mega Watt electricity, which can be future Iraq for Hydrogen fuel. Right now it seems India doesn't need anything from Nepal, but Nepal is its only hope for future. Chaina is prospective super power in two decade. It has a lot of nuclear fuel, however, as we know from USA, no superpower satisfies by energy. Its an energy which makes country superpower. China, India both have nonrenewable energy sources. One day they will run out of those non renewable energy resources. They know it very well because they are smart, cleaver. They are farsighted and are already looking for the measure. His Majestrie's Chaina card is quite old technique, Chaina is a player, can't be a card. Country like USA doesn't go to Iraq without oil. If it was democracy that took US to Iraq, why neighbouring Saudi Arabia, which is perfect autocracy, getting protection from US? Don't believe on words, they are just for dummies. If US can do such things for energy why can't India n Chaina? US wants to protect Chaina to be a superpower. India can balance China to some extent. US doen't want Chinese influence in Nepal. Regional power balance theory. You may not buy this but I think this could be true. To exist beween two smart big countries we have to be smarter, otherwise we may lose our existance. The end

vishontar ji, eventhough it is true that nepal can theoretically produce a lot of hydroelectricity, but it is not practical. if it were then why do you think world bank and Asian development bank have rejected so many of the projects, like upper Arun for example. i would say it is an illusion to think that nepal can produce a lot of electricity from its rivers. it is just not feasible. the only thing nepal can prosper through is tourism. tourism alone can feed and clothe all nepali if we promote tourism in our country. it is not called beautiful country for no reason imagine sitting at a table in a restaurant with chilled beer and spicy nepali food near the edge of a hill overlooking the snowcapped mountains. any body will pay top dollars for that experience

Birbhadra Ji, Nice point. I thought I am done but you brought a good point. We have 83 Giga Watts hydropower, is not mith or theory but truth. There are several reasons why international companise and banks are not interested to invest. 1. They have to develop infrasturctures like road which cost a lot. 2. Buyers like India can generate cheap electricity through coal. 3. Investers has to wait for long time to take profit. As you know this is very fast world. Electricity is pretty cheap right now because it is mostly generated by coal and radioactive material. Coal is less efficient but cheap. Radioactive material is expensive but highly efficient. A small block of Uranium can produce termandious amount of electricity for long time. But both are non-renewable; one day they will be finished. On top of that they have some drawbacks. Nuclear weaste is highly hazardous. It cost a lot of money to dump the weaste. US is facing a lot of protests against the nuclear dumping. Coal generates green house gases like Carbondioxide and Carbonmonooxide. Sooner or later there will be ban on it. What will India do then? This is why I have mentioned Kyoto Protocol. What to talk about India, right now USA is also not ready sign Kyoto Protocol. Most of the electricity in US is generated by coal. It has 1300 big cold mines. US economy will be severly damaged if she signs for Kyoto Protocol. But sonner or later everybody has to sign. In future there will be ban on gassoline fuel. Hydrogen fuel will take over. It is expensive but the world will have no option left. If we continue burning organic carbon compounds (coal, petrolium, natural gases) our existance will be endangered. So, life comes first. Greenhouse gases in atmosphere are not yet in threatening level. I am talking about future and they (India and china) are also looking for future.

Since we don't have domestic technology, that's why electricity is expensive. Once we have domestic technology it will be cheaper. You can see the difference, those multimillion dollor projects in foreign investment generate way expensive electricity compare to domestic hydropower companise. I am glad that world bank is not investing. It had invested on Brazil and jeoparadise her economy by sinking her into debt. First lets be self dependent in energy. 2,000 Mega Watts can make us self dependent which is about 2% of our total capacity. Over 50% of our total capacity is economically fesible even in present condition. The beauty of Hydropower is, once you built it you need not to do anyting for long time and it is environmentally safe. I just want to see its start. I know there are many private companies heading towards this direction. Three of my soulmates are in a process to own their own Hydro power company. I hope NRN will invest in this direction and will attck on thousand Mega Watts projects. I am dreaming to see Nepal with Hydropower economy followed by Hydrogen economy. Tourism is immidiate option but Hydropower is ultimate option. If you don't utilize your energy resource you have to import energy. The money you have earned will go outside and you will never be rich. The only way to be rich is to best utilize the gift of mother Nature, our property, hydropower. Nothing can be compared to the Hydropower of Nepal. I always look for future, and its only Hydropower which will come to rescue us. Sorry, Birbhadra Ji, I have never tested Beer in my life. I don't think I will ever test it in this life :). Of course, it will certainly give me pleasure while looking down from the mountain top. More than that I will be pleased when foreigners go to the hill top, spent $ and take the pleasure. My happiness will cross the boundary when by that $ every single Nepali brother and sister of mine could get food, shelter, cloth, medicine and education. This is the only happiness I want.

nuclear technology i do not think it is wise to use because the nuclear waste is too much nuisance. as you mentioned that there is no infrastructure and it needs more money to make a hydropower that was exactly what i was telling here earlier. but that is not just the case. when i say theoretically possible i meant it was impossible to achieve the potential limits. sorry to tell you this but without foreign help nepal can't even sustain itself how do you expect to build millions and billions dollars worth hydropower generating infrastructure. वातावरन पनि त सम्रक्ष्यन गर्नु पर्यो नि हैन ? hydropower भनेर जती मन लाग्यो त्एती गन्र्न काहा हुन्छ र ? oh please don't tell me that hydropower is environmentally friendly. you have been lied to. it is not safe as you think. i have done a project regarding this i know eventhough it looks clean and env-friendly IT IS NOT. if you don't believe it do some research. you will be surprised very few human made things are beneficial to anything othet than humans themselves.

" have done a project regarding this i know eventhough it looks clean and env-friendly IT IS NOT. if you don't believe it do some research. you will be surprised" Birbhadra ji..please spare us some time and explain why it is not more environment friendly than coal powered or nuclear powered energy plant?
