from my diary:
i had a troublesome day today ...i went to bed at 7 yesterday (in fact it
was already today's morning!!) ..and then had to wake up at 10 because dai
ko aja driving permit ko lagi written test thiyo , so had to take him to the DMV
(department of motor vehicles) ...he gave the test, got paased , but forgot
to take the necessary immigration paper so had to come back to home!...that
wasn't all ....then we went to grocery shopping as we almost had ran out of
food since last few days ...and was very hungy by we finished our shopping
and decided to go to our favorite chinese buffet restaurant ....we had good
lunch and we were heading out of the restaurant door...i said to myself
"wait a minute! where are the keys !"..and that was it ...it took rest of
our day to reach to the place where our keys were...so close, yet so far !
...bhaye cha k bhane i had locked the key inside the car !!!...and guess
what with the engine still running ...my god , i knew i was absent-minded,
but to that limit, never had imagined of ...
..we tried all we could to get to the keys or to open the doors or anything
for that matter ....tara k garnu bal le matre nahudo rahecha, "liver" pani
chahido rahecha !....dai ra ma we were just looking to each other's
"bichara" face , trying to ask "now, what next???" ...ghar ta janu parcha
kare !...ani moreover, to add more grief in our pain, it was only raining
earlier, now it started snowing ..thank you so much upper wale ...you are so
kind !!!!
....then went back to the restaurant, thinking atleast it's warm there
!....bhagye pani kasto ....chinese restaurant !!!.....the only english they
understand is "dollar" and the only chinese we know is "chowmin", which
certainly wasn't going to be of much help much for us, though it helped when
asking for food !
...then one of the customer maybe felt pity on us and told us he will see if
he can do anything ...he got into his car and took out his antenna, but our
car's doors were automatic so wasn't going to help with that antenna because
the door with lock was twice distance far than the total length of the
antenna !....but he had atleast wonderful idea for us, he knew the locksmith
who helped to open the locked car's door...but he didn't have that guy's
phone number and we didnt have the phone ...what a coincidence!!!...thank
god , in fact thank him, he let us borrow his cell phone ...we called the
police !....did u say why ?...to get the lock smith's phone number niii ,it
was that gentle man's idea too...mero ta khopadi le kaam garne bhaye po
!....it worked out , got the phone number finally ....and also called the
locksmith and he was ready to open our "ill-fate" door !....but before he
put down the phone he said something to me that kept both dai and my mouths'
wide open ..."it will cost you 36$ and the mileage to open the door(mileage
means we had to pay for his gas of the car for whatever miles it takes to
come there !) " ....i thought i heard it wrong at first time ..i asked him
"are you kidding???" ...com'on 36$ to open the silly door, you must be
kidding !....he on return said to me, "hey dude, do you really want to open
the door?" ....that question kept me silent !....do i have choice ra i said
to myself, afailae dhikardae !!!...he said it will take him 15-20 minutes to
be there ...we waited believing him not even worrrying about the snow...just
looking at each other's face and trying hard to smile !...15 minutes became
30 minutes tara sale gadha ko ato pato chaina ....at about after 35 miutes
he came with a biiig van !...i really mean big hae....i asked with dai "did
he bring rocket launcher to blow or car or what ?"...dai wasn't feeling any
different too but said let's just wait and watch
....he came, looked at the car and do u know what he said..."u know what,
you car seems to be 05 model, i forget the necessary euipment at my
shop.'...oh my goshhhhh..."what was that biiiggggg van for then you fat ugly
hatti."... i thought i will say that in his face ...but later only decided
to say to dai's face after he went , knowing that calling "fat" is the
biggest insult here and, u know, i really do love my life...
...then it was another 30 minutes wait, but this time we made 'inteligent' use of our 'gobre khopadi' and went inside the restaurant to wait, knowing that, that haatti wont be back earlier ....he came back
with the "equipment"...can u imagine what on the earth was the equipmet that
he had forgotten to bring? ....about a meter long steel wire !!!....i
serioulsy thought it was really a big equipment which might not have fit in
his van so he had forgotten....i started debating to myself, was that haati
more absent-minded or me?
..and then he started his venture....gaffadi no. 1 ....if this named movie
is to be ever made in bollywood....govinda might have retired, he is the
perfect substitution !....kaam bhanda kura besi bro ko !...and guess what?
...he had book for the instructions , and the only thing he was doing was he
had inserted that his 'precious may-be-thus forgotten' steel wire from the
window and was now trying to press the unlock button on the next window
....to do this, u need a book???...what a crap ! ...'try, try until you will
die' would surely come true today if we had kept on letting him try to press
that unlock button
...but then in this great absent-minded's "liver" an idea stroked and asked
that hatti to take a break, after all he must be really tired with all that
"hard" work ...my idea was to push the window button as the car's engine was
still on ....the window button was on the same side and was easy to
push...it took me 2 minutes to push that window button and finally open the
door !.....yeeeeha !
...to our astonismnet, the happiest person was that hatti !, god knows the
reason .....the next thing he did was handed us the slip of 36$ !...did he
left us any options ra !..we started emptying our wallet...do u know what he
said as a farewell words????...."it has never took me this looong to open
any locked door, and i even proved the book wrong by not following the
instructions."....k re you opened the door re!....hey bhagwan k garu yes
laeee.... i decided i don't want to talk to him anymore ...and god knows
what i will do if i see him again ever
...he took our hard-earned 36$, wasted our precious 2 and half hours which
otherwise i would have spent with something more productive and at the end also took the credit for opening the door !...what a good day it had been ...tara dai said
something that made us proud and we started patting each other's bk..."thaha cha bhai tyo gadha le mile-age ko ta paisa liyena niii"...."ani ta hae"...what a reason
we found to be proud of ourselves !
...then, dai lae i dropped to his boss house, came back dead tired (of ocurse
with that kind of day and only 3 hours sleep this morning!!!) only to see
what i already knew ....my sweetie had already been offline !!....i wish i could cry
now...or i wish my sweetie knew what had happened ....but before that feeling
keep me occupied too long , i had already started smelling something
bad!....amn't i suppose to be at work at 5?!!!? and its 20 minutes to 5
when it takes 35 minutes to reach to work ....dhanyebad cha bhgwan aja ko
deen lae
...atleast work was OK , and no one bothered to notice of my late coming
....just got back from work and i am writing what a great day it had been today!
...good nite...zzzzzzzz
