Please read it before passing comments. With all the hatred and allegations against the king, here's an ironic perspective. How has the King helped Nepal on the same subject he has been criticized for, knowing or unknowingly. * 2007, saved the nation from the Ranas. * 2062-63, was the common cause for Maoist to strike a deal with SPA. Think about it, when the multi-party democracy was in place, they couldn't find any grounds for negotiation with the Maoist. When the King took over, he became the common enemy. When you establsh a common enemy, you have better chances of having a common goal, obviously. But not so fast!! Why did the above points became a fact in the first place? * King saved Nepal from the Ranas, but who was responsible for the plight? Had the kingdom been stronger, no Ranas could have ruled us for 105 years. * Why all the commotion anyways by the Maoist and the people. Even w/o the power, the autocratic shift was felt well before King G. took over. The corrupt beurocracy and inept administration was a trickle down effect of the same old regime. How is that for a spin?

Your statement makes no sense dude. King ran away from Nepal when Nepali jantas were fighting and sacrificing their lives to oust the Ranas. Little cooperation he offered to our martyrs was because he was the one who was going to benefit the most by ousting the Ranas. Do some home works before you make silly stat

I have to agree. Never have been parties of nepal so united. They were all against one another. Now they are speaking the same tune. Never before parites and Moaist were unified and it also opens door for table talk. Indirectly some credit must go to king although i dont think he have done it on purpose.

i don't need to read the threads. from the title, i know it was not right. if king was the saviour, then look at the condition nepal is in now. Nepal would be better without the King.

Suvachintak1, Just to let you know. You can change the Neta, if he does wrong. You have right to do that in democracy. we can even choose "You" as our Neta. But If the King turns bad we don't have no option. That is the basic difference. It's all about system. Try to think it this way. King is always a person either Tribhuwan, Mahendra, Gyanendra etc but Neta can be anyone.

You have a point Texan... I have to admit.. i was a royalist some time ago, but frequent visit to sajha has changed my mind.... Two thumbs up for democracy (but we do need some good leaders. Nepal lacks good, educated, devoted leaders). Do you agree on that? Just look at girija... marna lagi sakyo.. teahi pani ousai lai chaiya cha teo kursi... kasto lobi muji raicha...

Well, let's look at it. #1 Who gave the country to the nirankush Ranas in the first place? #2 What makes you think Shahs took the country from Ranas and gave it to the people? #3 So should we thank the king for being the enemy at large of the people?

texan i agree with you completely but the thing ing netas have same circule they keep going around and around. one neta dont like other then they have problem and nepal banda all that s h it all over again.................. king wasnt any better either....................... there is other way to solve this problem only could be done by voice of people but again all these netas have power of buying people to make a voice............................ that wont work either................................ we can change netas of course no dought about it but we keep making same mistake we keep bringing same netas back...................there is something wrong with our system and people.............................. i think we educated people from all over need to go back to nepal and take a charge form our new party.............................. mostlikely it wont happen cuz people of nepal specially educated ones will say " testo jamela ma ke parne nepal yestai ho" not to mention india does play big roll in making nepals politics unstable...............

ShuvaChintak, Here is my point. People need to be aware of these corrupted Netas. You have known so many things about these corrupted leaders. How many times you have voted to one of them? Just try changing it. Don't vote to the one who you feel is corrupted. If each and every people start doing this, the problem will be solved in instance. I have voted one of the most corrupted politician all the time. Even though I knew he was corrupted I voted him. But now I am not going to vote him again. It is all about awareness. Democracy is all about making good decision by the majority. If most of us start thinking this way the scenario is going to be changed. Don't you feel that people have become so much aware of all these things within these 12 years? It is one of the good aspect of Democracy. It is you (people) who choose NETA. Unlike in Autocratic government.

This thread represents typical Nepal and our mentality. Me being Nepali, I will take the blame as well. I WROTE, READ THE THREAD completely!!. There are immediate threads marked after mine, that actually tells u that these guys didn't read the thread completely (or didn't get the gist). Then another surveer comes and proclaims, "I don't need to read the thread," and passes his judgement. We are quick to voice our opinion, that's what we do best. That's not a bad thing, but what is dangerous is not to do a good assessment of what you are talking about before being directed by leaders and politicians. I am glad 2 or 3 readers actually read it and understood the gist. Kudos, Nepal is not hopeless after all.
