Folks, Any idea about getting cheap tickets esp. for students like us to travel within the US? orbitz/expedia/cheaptickets are not showing any mercy to us. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

They don't have mercy at students in USA. eh!! Well, if it you don't have any preference on seats or time of flight, try "Name your own price" or something like that. Once I used "Name your own price" option from priceline.com and the deal was pretty good. The only crazy thing was the flight was at the wee hour of the morning :D and the seat they gave was right above the wing. Other than that, everything was purrfect. :) How it works is, you put certain price, which you think is affordable, and the computer will search the flight for you and give you the result somewhere closer to the price you quoted. Pick the search result which you think is good for you in terms of money, time of flight, time between the connecting flights and the airlines. I think almost every airlines reservation websites has that option. Try it.

travel zoo and travelocity are fine if you become member. I personally like Southwest.com to travel west and most of central America and for east Bluejet is good. Don't forget to downling the "Ding" in Soutwest. Gives you prices between $29 dollars to $ 129 per flight. -bin/systray?action=referralForm&os=WinXP&version=1.05.005&disc=0:3:1158006714.734405:34410@56B4BA61CEF687165255AA81DB

guys have already mentioned some major sites. If they don't work for you then may be you could look for Greyhound bus or ask for ride with someone. It also depends on the locations. Sometimes it will cheaper to fly than going by Greyhound. Bottom line is start looking in advance. Like others I would use www.sidestep.com priceline.com travel.yahoo.com expedia.com bookingbuddy.com Good Luck
