I know he is charismatic. he has huge fan following and he sells T shirts more than anyone in the world. He is 31 now and he just signed contract with US soccer club, LA galaxy. is it a good move? will he be considered great here in USA? or is it jsut money $1M / week. wow, huge money even considering big name in NFL, NBA, MLB. whats your take guys? http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news;_ylt=AtrpUqcPhpqJcvU0NlbSPLQ5nYcB?slug=reu-beckhamdc&prov=reuters&type=lgns

Soccer is growing here in U.S.A. His move to California Club will certainly accelearate the soccer game in North America, esp U.S.A. and Canada. I do not know why he choose to come here in U.S.A., would have been better if he choose to play for other Europian club. Money is good 1 m per week Plus it will be good for his wife who can hang around with other celeberaty in Los Angeles. I am sure Galaxy will generate more money than it pays to Beckaham. It is all about Money.. Money.. Nothin else matter.

yes it is for money. he is 31 and when he will join Galaxy, he will be 32. There will not not much football left in him and he will not be getting better for sure. I dont thin kgalaxy paid them 250 million for nothing. He is a biggest sport star in the world and can sell a lot of t shirts and can earn a lot from endorsement. this is the biggest money paid to any athlete in any sports anywhere in the world until today. i guess, they paid for his image rather than his skill.

I hope that will create some room for soccer fans to breathe. For sure that will draw the international and national attention towards soccer(esp lousy US soccer).Hope it will prevent US soccer team getting smoked in world soccer arena in every world cup!!! It will be interesting to see how LA galaxy will compensate his pay selling tickets $10 for club level. i have been to couple of soccer games before, ironic most of the seats were unattained, kinda felt like new road(Ktm) on nepal bandh..dead and complete silence, you can get in there anytime and get club level seat at the price as low as the chinese-dinner.So how ill soccer could struggle against NFL and NBA where an average Greenbay Packer fan should have to wait for next 36 years to get the season ticket if he/she applies today. But still there is no sport that can surpass the NFL adrenaline, there is no sport that could equalize Ray lewis chasing Peyton Manning this saturday. hurri.

I understand Beckham, now in the twilight of his career, wants to join a league where he can continue to be a star. Laato ko desh ma gaado tanneri. Pele did it way back when he joined North American League, I think the team's name was Cosmos. So, why not Beckham? But I don't understand his compensation package. It's whopping $250 Million, but they say 80% of that will come from endorsements. So how does that work? Is LA Galaxy and their manager, Alexi Lalas, going to work as his agent to bring him advertisement contracts? So what is his real salary from the club?
