Hey Guys!!
Not sure how many of you are into reading novels and books. But I am sure there are some good readers and writers out here.

Which writers or books have had lasting impressions in your life?

In my case, its George Orwell's Animal Farm, Ayn Rand's Fountain Head. And I envy Kahlil Gibran poetic writings. How about you?

A classic book to date, I could not put back on the table was "the Treasure Island" by Robert Louis Stevenson. The descriptions were so vivid that it made me feel like I was peeking through a window to witness each scene in the story.

Hey Crystal: Finally so glad to find someone that likes Rand. If anyone like to understand how the free market works read Rand. She is the best. Fountain Head is a classic. Atlas Shrugged is a masterpiece too although it took me few months to finish it.

You'll love Atlas Shrugged if you liked Fountain Head. Personally, I feel Atlas Shrugged is her best work and Fountain Head is very very close second.

As far as I remember, the first novel I read was 'King Solomon's Mines' by Henry Rider Haggard, quite adventurous and enthralling, set in a Zulu village somewhere in southern Africa. I read it in fifth or sixth grade.

My favourite writer, however has been Jules Vern, writer of a number famous science fictions, 'Around the World in 80 Days', '20,000 leagues under the Sea', 'Journey to the Centre of the Earth', 'Five Days in a Balloon', ' Around the Moon', etc.
