Hi everyone,
I got by H1b approved from an Indian consulting firm. But after the training and knowing exactly how they work, I do not want to work for them, or for any other Indian Consultancies for that matter. I am on OPT right now and also work part time. My OPT expires on Jan 14, 2008. But as the H1B starts on Oct 1, and I do not want to work for this firm, what options do i have.
I am seriously looking for a school or non-profit that fits the exempt quota. I also have plans to join a Masters program. But as my OPT expires on Jan 14, 2008 and the H1B starts on Oct 1, 2007, what options do i have if i wanna join a master's program.
If i don't work for the company, what's going to happen to my H1B. I'm in serious problem here. I rushed to this company because i knew that H1 would be filled up within 2-3 days this year. But i now regret it.
I would appreciate any advice from you.

I am in a similar condition but thank God my H1b did not come through. But what are other ways of finding jobs. there seem to be no jobs for people like us who are not the smartest but are willling to work hard.

From what I have heard, you should have worked at least few weeks before you can transfer your H1B. That means you can't transfer before working for the Indian consultancy in Oct.
Good Luck !!

xx-nepal,
You are lucky that your H-1 was approved. Don't be fool and quit the job before you transfer your H-1. You never know what US Congress would do for H-1 from next year. Be wise and don't forfiet yet. Inspite of everything, work for 6 months and transfer. That's how you will have - experience, money (I hope) and the time to think as well. I hope this helps.
