As far as I know, yes, it does. When you apply for green card you express your intention of remaining in the United States which contradicts your intention of returning to your country after the completion of your studies - the intention you expressed when applying for F1 Visa. So, if your green card motion is turned down you will have to leave United States. But the process is very lengthy, so you will be eligible to remain in the United States until the immigration court gives the final verdict.

BTW, you can still maintain your F1 status if you continue to take 12 credits per semester (unless it is your last semester before graduation) while your green card application is under deliberation.

If you have a valid I-20, visa expiration doesn't matter. Mention your I-20 though, very important after visa expiration.

Yes, like Poon-Hill said, it does not matter as long as you have a valid I-20 and are in status. You need visa only to enter/ re-enter the country. Once you are here you don't need to worry about visa. Just make sure you stay in status.
