Same here bro. Shame on us he he.
I feel more disappointed when we have to drive hundreds of kilometers to see little bumps. They are comparable to our Soyambhu height. Here people wow seeing these bumps and several foot-high rocks in this country. I now realized how precious are our mountains back home. Why don't you plan to climb in next visit to Nepal? Promise now. I am thinking about it.

Khane mukh lai jungale chhekdaina bhanchhan but hamilai nikai bahana auchhan. Tadha cha re, chiso huncha re, suninchha re, height lagcha re, maobadi le lutcha re, etc etc. Asai asma jindagi las banne hola.

yea, bro, Many people asked me that question. Luckily, I have been up to Makalu Base camp, so i tell them that i've not reach the top of Mt'Everest, but i've hiked up few smaller ones.
One day one person asked me
What is your favorite Hindu God? and he was looking at me in a funny way.
My reply was that I do believe in god (one god) but i don't believe in organized religion, (which is True) and every religion in this world except Hinduism, and Buddhism, Tells you that if you don't believe in their religion you are going to hell.

I tell them yeah, I've climbed Mt. Everest many time...Then I ask them, have you climbed Mt. Whitney?  They say no and I look at them in disbelief and say shit like, "damn, that not good."  Then to insult them further, I ask, "Do YOU even know where it is?"  hahaha

FYI, Mt. Whitney is the highest peak in the US.

waiyat, Definitely thats the way to go man...Also, it depends on your physique.  If you're overweight and panting for breath after every 10 steps then saying yes is surely not a viable option.  LOL  They'll look stupid for asking you that question.  hahaha

can we not be just plain honest? what's shameful if you haven't climbed any mountains? i have found many whites, at least where i live (in south), who haven't been to NYC or other major cities all their life. some have spent their whole life serving for a single company in the same city where they were born and brought up and they are not shameful about it...

happens...what's the big deal? reminds me of some of my friends in india who used to regard me as "royal' just because my country had monarchy...hahaha

Even in Malaysia, once people know that I make arrangements for tours and trekking in Nepal, the next obvious question is "Have you been to Everest?" And my answer is "With every trip, I'm working myself meter by meter to scale Sagarmatha. My first trip was to Mt, Kailash, Tibet (5585m). Second trip was a 9-days trekking around the KTM valley. Third trip was to Gosaind Kund Tal (4609m). Fourth trip scheduled for 2008 is Annapurna Circuit Trek. Words become insignificant when compared to the majestic mountains of Nepal. Once is never enough!

gosh just because you've lived in this country doesn't mean you've been to every damn place in there, its not like if you were living in the mt.everest area, thatd be a different story. im in the western part of canada and no one here has been to niagara falls or cn tower, that doesnt make them feel any dumb or embarassed, chill.

My answer would be YES, always. Because, I have attempted to climb up to the level of 6000 ft. Also did 2-3 trekkings while doing field research in Nepal. So, there is no question to be shame on answering. I have been asked in almost every occasion when there is meeting with professors, native americans and parties with such people. I feel proud when saying YES to them.
