I had heard about he rumors that Ms. Sujata (GIRIJA's KUPUTRI) is brokering deal to sale one of the most valuable property, Nepali Embassy in London, which we won to Mr. Laxmi Mittle.  But, looks like this rumors may come out to be true....

Given the chance they will sale NEPAL as well....

Yup, I had read in another newspaper that Girija is pushing to sell Nepali Embassy in London, despite suggestion to NOT do so from the UK government and their royal family.

Girija probably sees Sterling Pound symbols all over this deal.  Unlike the miserable dirty townhouse that we call Nepali Embassy in Washington, the one in London is in the most posh and sought after part of the embassy areas.  This is due to the fact that Britain and Nepal had diplomatic ties long before lot of other countries, so we were able to acquire a property that is now of tremendous value.

I personally think Nepal should not sell its embassy.  After all, it has historical significance.  Some things are worth more than money, don't you think so?

But then, I am not the prime minister.

No doubt the embassy is situated in one of the posh place in London. The road where it is is one of the most expensive area in London if not in the world . Also where Diana's Palace is and Laxmi Mittal is a resident few yards away from the building. It is worth multi million pounds. But our Embassy building is one of the worst looking and is one of the most disgusting from inside. There is a lot of smell inside, and offices are not looked after. wohi nepal office ko haal. Developer has estimated the cost of property to renovate at 4-5 million pounds. If the office is not renovated on time there is a chance of roof collapse because the roof is so old that there are so many leaks, Now either the embassy has to be renovated or has to be sold. If the embassy is renovated then there will be further 25-50% rise on the price tag so its worth renovating it but 5 million pounds to renovate? Will our government fund it? I very much doubt it. But if they sell it, it should be sold on public market, not to one of the Arabs ( as I heard). It should get its full value and that money should be invested to relocate the embassy. Renting somewhere else in London will again cost our government a fortune as the embassy is not generating as much revenue at present to pay for the rent and the staffs.

So whatever they gonna do I pray that there will be no dalali in between and I really wish if it has to be sold, one of our fellow Nepali buys it. I know there are plenty nepalese who can afford that building.

"Given the chance they will sale NEPAL as well...." I thought they did a long time ago to India.

"Given the chance they will sale their WIFES and MOTHERS as well...." that's the only thing left

I think everyone has decided to let Nepal be sold to India that includes Nepali ministers, Nepali army, Maoists, and finally Nepali all over the world so I wouldn't just blame the people in power right now. No point in B*tching and crying because we know Nepali people are not capable of doing anything.

The Kensington Palace which serves as the Nepalese Embassy in London was a souvenir from the British Monorch for the help Nepal offered them during the wars. It predates the India's Independence from the Britain. It has historical significance so we must oppose the plan of selling it vigorously. Even there was report that the government was trying to sell the Nepalese Embassy in New Delhi.

It is situated in prime London location. According to the reports, the government is trying to sell it citing the "huge expenses" needed for its renovation. I had also read somewhere that the Nepal government was trying to sell the building some years ago but due to pressures from the Gurkhas, it aborted it. Now it is trying to sell it and there are people from the cabinet with vested interest running with full energy to sell it.

Firstly, the government has no authority to sell the building. It's fncking interim government and how come it can act berserk. Secondly, the apparent reason: the huge cost of renovation by no means implies that it should be sold. You don't sell your house and move to a rented building when your house needs renovation. What if Singha Durbar, Hanumandhoka Durbar and other durbars gets dilapidated? We aren't goin to sell them for sure.

WhyTF the shameless government can't beg the money with other governments when it can beg literally to build a restroom ? Has it calculated the amount that it costs to rent an embassy in London, which is the costliest place to rent space in the world ? Does it retain the same prestige by renting an embassy ?

I don't know why most news from Nepal unnerves me nowadays. God bless us and have a mercy upon us !
