Capture the audio of VCD using audio-out and record the same using audio-in. Hope this makes sense. Share with us if you have any luck. Or Google for 'demux' or demultiplexer tool.

Also, I found this in another website:

Use TMPGEnc as follows:

File>>MPEGTools>>Simple DeMultiplex
Save separate video and audio tracks

To merge the video and audio tracks and again create the VCD formatted file:

File>>MPEGTools>> Simple Multiplex - IMPORTANT! AFTER loading in audio and video files, set mode to "MPEG1-VideoCD" (NOT just "MPEG1")
Save as a VCD-formatted MPEG1 file, ready to burn as VCD.

----------------

Unlike celluloid films, both audio and video is encoded together in VCD as one datastream.

Download VCDGear which is a freeware. This will let you extract the video from VCD as an .mpg file.

Another freeware AoA Audio Extractor will then extract audio from .mpg file. This software claims it can extract audio directly from .dat (VCD format) files but it did not work for me. So I had to first convert VCD files to .mpg files using VCDGear and then extract audio from the .mpg file.

if you search the net, you may find some software that will directly extract audio from VCD files. Let us know if you find anything like that.

The most easy way that I can think of is by using window movie maker. Follow the instruction below.

1.Open Movie Maker

2.Change the storyboard setting to time line . (Its located at the bottom left corner of the screen, right next to the zoom buttons.)

3.Click the prefered video clip and drage it to the place where it says Audio/Music.

4.Go to file menu and click Publish Movie.

5.Click next. Select the drive where you want to save and click next again.

6.When you come across Choose Settings, click the best according to the need. If you want the high quality audio, click More Settings and brouse accordingly.(Higher the Kbps, better the quality)

7.Click Publish.

To extract the Video only , drag the video to the place where it says video. Then click to the "+" sign next to the video. Then you will see transection and audio appearing. Rt click to the audio portion and click at the place where it says Mute. Then go to the file menu and click pubilsh movie. Follow the instructions.

I guess this might help you. Its pretty easy to do and you dont have to download anything.

Hope you find this helpful.

Good luck

For the layman.....Window Movie Maker is enough for basic home editing because it doesnt require any special courses. You can just click it and figure out yourselves. But if you wanna do some thing creative, then go with the Adobe Premier. It is THE BEST editing software around. Its a professonal editing software but if you are really interested then you can figureout the basic things. You can also go to youtube and watch the tutorials regarding this software. I can not think of any other editing softwares besides these two right now.

Good Luck!!
