This is the last week of the geek goliath, William Henry Gates III, in Microsoft's executive body. So you might want to pay some homage to our homie because of whom we are able to write in this forum.

who's going to be next president of Microsoft ? ....Balmer ? ...Oh god please save Microsoft. It's already going through it's bad days. Balmer will make it worse. I'm not much into Microsoft products, but appreciate Bill Gates. He's an Idol.

Ballmer would be the next one. Like we all know, he is not that beloved personality. I guess it would be tough for him to enlarge the already roman like empire. But then, when you have windows and office and revenues all flowing from past deals; they just have to do what they are doing. I am also not big Microsoft fan but we have to admire what Bill Gates have done. Steve Job summarized his legacy as "The first person to open a software company when no one knew what was a software". He truly deserves some applauds and accolades.

He is smart.. but the truth is he dumped this world with crapy and expensive softwares.. and unhealthy business practice.
Hopefully, soon open source community and LINUX world will win... (in fact microsoft is almost out in servers domain.. and in few years Bill dada's monopoly in desktop and workstations also end.. ).

unhealthy bussiness practice? in what sense..companies are making millions of dollers using their softwares, and they are ready to invest in their softwares? who is complaining. as for students, there are lots of softwares out there which have license with limited use.

If Open Source(OS) were at Microsoft's level in term of dominance, do you seriously think they'll be better in term of business practices? As much as I hate to pay for Microsoft's product, they have definitely made my life easier. Yes, of course OS bitch about this and that about stability, security and all other common things. If you're so popular, it is obvious the world will target you and criticize on everything. The bottom line is it's all business, everybody at that level and stage will be doing the same. So don't portrait OS as God. OS people think they're smarter than MS people, the difference- MS are not only smart, they can deliver too. OS people seem to think the world need to go to them to be rescued, but MS came to my door to the rescue with a little price tag (clever business strategy). I'm up for it, so is the rest of the world. That is the difference. If water should be free, then how come bottled water are doing business? I don't care who other takes his place as the richest man, he means more than anybody since his "Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation" charity work will trickle down even to Nepal, which means chunks of money for our country. Just because our corrupt leaders will eventually get hold of those money doesn't mean we get to bitch his organization in the future. Who care who's the richest if they personally don't affect you and your society.

"He is smart.. but the truth is he dumped this world with crapy and expensive softwares.. and unhealthy business practice." This is mere sour grapes. If it is so expensive then why are people buying it. Bill gates is a dream come true for any person in the tech field. Because of people like him, Dell, Google Guys, Jobs etc; people dare to dream. One person wrote above that open source software and free software should win. Well, we all want that, don't we? A different business model which wont directly take money from the end user. But when Gates started company, there wasn't such a thing called software for end users.

Bill Gates. Bill Gates. I think he has done his own fair share in the industry. He will always be looked up as an idol. Who wouldn't want to be in his shoes. He has set the the standards at a whole new level for years to come.
