Someone please tell me why Nepalese parties in Boston always fall on a Monday. This year's Dashain party is scheduled to be on Monday October 6th at 6:30. While every other Dashain party in other states fall on the weekend. It’s ridiculous.

Somebody please tell me why Boston Nepali Parties Suck Ass ? And why it is soo expensive(they don't pay the performers so where is this $$ going, they even bought a PA system with yours and my $$$ so they don't have to rent everytime) ? And has gbnc been registered as a non profit org(to get that tax exempt status) ?

You all may concur but who incurs the burden? Not you for sure. Having worked for non profit orgs I know how much work gets put into organizing an event like that.

It's a thankless job for sure. You put in all those extra hours of your time trying to do something good for your community but there are always some sour elements who don't do anything but complain. They will come back and tell you that you are the one who is in the position. The organizers will have to match their level best to ignore such sour people who don't raise a finger to help out yet will find fault with everything. These sour elements don't know how much time and discussion and planning goes in to find a venue. What factors have to be considered such as how far it is. Is it accessible to public? What days are it available? How to estimate how many people will come? Delegating responsibilities as far as different activities involved. Hire police? Where to order food. what programs and performances. How to deal with performers and plan their dances. Help with rehearsals. The list can go on but the important thing is you spend hours and hours of your personal time and effort just because you want to help and be a part of the community you live in.

The sour elements don't do anything except run their mouths like diahheria. From experience I know that the general population appreciates your work. They show a vote of confidence by showing up. There will always be a few sour ones who will make the biggest noise like posting in site but they are just some negative folks who will never be happy with anything so you can safely ignore them. Noone is forced to come. It's not like the organizers are making personal profit from these things.

I am not questioning the organizer’s hard work and dedication. I’ve lived in Boston for 15 years and I know in the past we’ve had parties, such as Dashain celebrations, in the weekends. It just seems odd that other states can schedule these kinds of events during the weekends and for the past couple of years GNBC has not been able to. By the way, people have work/school during the weekdays. I think organizers in other states have realized this, why hasn’t GBNC? Further, go the events section on the main page and find one party scheduled on a weekday .Case in point.

Saroj,

U dun need to come and tell us how much effort it requires to put up a programme. Been there done that(you talk as if you are the only one who has volunteered). When we volunteered there was transparency, responsibility and accountability ....every year they would post the checks and balances. What I am suggesting is that we have not seen theose checks and balances from GBNC in a godamn long time. $30 for dinner and hall rental is a lil too steep(not for me but for students trying to make ends meet). Plus I have time and again recomended to get the tax exempt status so that the GBNC community can get tax exempt $$$ donations from our own Nepali Business owners. Khoi ta ?

ITs easy to come run yo diarrhea mouth here too Saroj, we are not GBNC's cash cow to shake us twice a yr at these functions and forget the rest of the year.

The parties are held on Mondays probably due to the fact that sizable Nepali population in Boston work during the weekends.  Only white collar professionals are free in the weekends.  Rest have to work.  Methinks.

BC, I believe GBNC acquired non-profit status many years ago.  Now whether they have maintained and managed to retain that status all these years till date is another story.

I know why the parties in Boston are always in Monday.
Most of the organizer  of Parties works in Indian restaurant and they have  off during Monday. Thats why! They have to work late during weekends.

very Simple and BTW the party SUCKS always!
