Hi everyone,
I finally got an appointment to get my H1-B visa stamped in Vancouver, Canada via gtasaving.com (mentioned by a fellow sajhaite). However, I am hearing that you can't get your H1-B visa stamped in Vancouver (you can only do it in Montreal or Toronto). I want to know if this is true at all. If anybody has gotten their visa stamped in Vancouver or knows anyone who did so, please PLEASE let me know. I am in dilemma :-(
Thanks in advance

You should be able to wait for few days in Vancouver. If this is your first time, they might ask you to wait for 3-4 business days. They will give you a hand out before the interview stating that some of the applicants might have to wait for few business days. You never know if you will have to wait untill you face the person who is interviewing you. Other than that rest should be fine.

Guys, could you please share your experience on that? I have one question, my visa got expired(F1) , the passport is still valid though. Got i-797 approval notice with me. I know, if I go to Canada and Mexico, I can come back within 30 days. But if  I dont get my PP stamped. Will they allow me to enter US again? Wont they check the visa on the border. I'm bit confused. I'll be really grateful if someone can share.

You can come back with in 30 days only if you do not give your passport to US consulate for stamping. If they take your passport for stamping, they will keep your I-94 which you filled out during your previous visit. It is your old I-94 which they require while allowing you back into states with in 30 days of leaving.

Thanks for responding to this thread Motherland :) Have people always been able to go to Vancouver to get their visa stamped or is it something new? I paid $100 for consulting fee with a reputed immigration law firm in san francisco and the lawyer told me that I could not go to Vancouver. I am just confused....

Dude,

I went on June this year. I came here on F1 Fall 2001 and graduated on dec 2005. Since then I have been working on H1. My F1 had already expired when I went to Vancouver. I don't know what kind of F1 visa you have, but I was given those 1 year visa from KTM  and had D/S (duration of stay) written on my I-94. I don't know why your lawyer told you not to go to Vancouver. Did you ever had any status problem in US? I was scared too since I was leaving US after 7 years. The funny thing is I had problem getting canadian visa rather than getting US H1b stamping. Canadian guy was doubtful about me in staying in US for such a long time. Also, you can call the US consulate in Vancouver and ask them too. I think they will charge few dollars for calling them.
