Some day ago , i was browsing the net , n found out that  those dick head indians were telling that : Gautam Buddha was born in india.  Where as we have got a proof of Ashoka building a monument  in lumbini to mark that Buddha was born there...

actually tenzing norgay is indian by citizenship card. When he thought about climbing mt.everest, he pleaded nepalese government citizenship so that he can do it being a nepali. But our f@#$@#$in government didnt allow him. Considered by indian govt, he took the second option. It sucks but...thats it... The good thing is...tnezing no matter what...claims to be nepali....so that way he is nepali....

Tenzing was a Nepali citizen, but India bought him so that they could call him Indian. Of course, with the Indian citzenship, he got perks and stuff. His village is in Nepal, and many of his relatives are still in Nepal. These f*u*ck*ing indians always try to belittle Nepal and Nepalese. Wish China kicked their ass, man.

Buddha was born in Indian Subcontinent, The subcontinent where he was born is part of Nepal now. 2500 years ago when buddha was born there was no India or Nepal. It was called Indian Subcontinent in English and "Bharat Barsa" in Samskrit. Bharat Barsa was sort of like European continent right now. Where the farmers worked for the landlords, landlords worked for the regional king, Regional King worked for the bigger king, and ultimately the bigger king worked for those emperors who ruled the Indian Subcontinent time to time.

I do not know the specific time table on what Emperors rules indian subcontinent from time to time but to name the few those were King Bharat (Ram's Father), Alexander the Great, Mugal (Muslims), some more kings like Ashoka ( who flourished Buddism in that region). Those kings concured part or all of indian subcontinent during their period and ruled the Region.

The last Emperors to rule were the English. They concurred those independent countries of "Bharat Barsa" one at a time and formed their own country called " East India Company". British believed that whole region belonged to them becasue there was no other force who did not agree with them or confronted them.

So the lesson of the History above is:

When your indian friend comes to you saying that buddha is from India, Just let him know that the the birth place of Buddha is a part of Nepal Currently. And it was Never part of INDIA as the name INDIA came to existance not until majority of Bharat Barsa States were concured by English people and gave their concured states the name " INDIA". The name INDIA did not exist before that and English never concured Nepal in order to call the whole region collectively India.

Just let your Indian friend know that the Name India is a English given name and before that there was no country named Bharat. It was the continent of Bharat Barsa with lots of states in it including, Hastinapur ( modern Dehli), janakpur, Kirat, Tamilnadu, Madra (modern Maddrass) and all of those other older names.

The fact that the Name India being a given name by English humiliates Indian more than anything and this will be your trumph card to pay against your ignorant Indian friend.

yes, its a bitter truth that Tenzing is an indian by citizen thats because India bought him. i saw a documentry about Tenzing asking him where he was from and his answer was " I was born in Nepal , i speak nepali, i am indian by citizenship but my heart was and will always be with Nepal and Nepali people because that's who i am. I have very good indian friends and i have no complaints against them, its just the Indian politics and MOfo Indian government thats creating this!!

Let me correct some people here. Tenzing Sherpa is actually Tibetan. He is neither Nepali nor Indian. He is from the region in Tibet called Pherukpa. But Tenzing Sherpa has more heart towards Nepal. Only problem is Nepal could not offer anything to such a legendary Tenzing and Indian took the opportunity. End of the story. Lumbini is in Nepal, but I am disgusted to call Lumbini is in Nepal. What have we or our govt have done other than using Lumbini and Buddhist as a BEGGING BOWL everytime our leader goes overseas. Just like ex-queen was chief of Paupatinath, Ex-prince was head of Redcross, Paras as head of Wild life, Gyane was head of Lumbini. Where did all the money go. Only reason Lumbini is what it is today is because of foreigners (japanese-burmese-korean, chinese) and true believers like Tibetans who have build monastries and invested alot to make it beautiful so that future generation can enjoy and follow the path of Buddha.

Well, there is no doubt about the Tenzing Citizenship as he was from Nepal. But studying the religion, I came to know that Gautama Buddha was born in the Mahabharata range which belonged to Indian around 2500 yrs ago in the peroid of Ashoka. Now the lumbini, the birth place of Gautama Buddha belongs to Nepal but at that time when Buddha was born, it was on the indian land. But it was clearly written that it belongs to ust the present time. But Buddha was said to be born in India as it was a former indian land. Truth is Truth Guys......but we Nepalese should be together and we need to have a cooperation knowing the truth.

I swear if I had a dime every time a new Nepali college kids in the US face this problem, I'd have been rich. Everybody has gone through it. Your are not the only one. If you're irritate, then stop hanging around with Indians.

You're right but wrong too. The people in the west have assumed Buddha was born in India since Indians care and are forcing the west to accept the distorted fact using their power. Remember, history is always written by the few powerful, it does not have to be accurate. On the other hand we, we cannot even wipe our ass properly even to this day. I've done quite a bit of of research in this issue. It is clear (more of a common sense) that boundaries and nationality between India and Nepal at the time of Buddha (500 years before the birth of Christ) was very vague. So for India to claim that was a part of India at the time, it will take beyond measures to prove it. India itself was not "India", just a bunch of tribes ruled by kings.
Here's the techincal and accurate information:
"Siddhartha was born in Lumbini and raised in the small kingdom or principality of Kapilvastu, both of which are in modern day Nepal. His father was King Suddhodana , the chief of the Shakya nation, one of several ancient tribes in the growing state of Kosala"
And Rookie, Buddha was born 200 years before Ashoka.
The key to this statement is "modern day" or present day......i.e Nepal. If some king captured it later, say Asoka for example, does not change the fact that it is a part of Nepal now (present day).Mongols in the 12th century ruled almost the whole world including Jerusalem, that does not mean Jesus Christ was a Mongolian. History change.
What you find among Indians misunderstanding the fact about Buddha, he spend most of his life in present day India and got the enlightenment in India, but he was NOT born in present ("present") day India.
Anyway,
What do you care, the message of Buddha has been lost from Nepal for good. We're some of the most selfish, greedy and violent race of people in the world. Why do you care about Buddha now? The truth "Buddhism is a begging bowl for Nepal in front of the world". There is nothing Buddhist among us, just fake prayers, praise and prides. Be honest.

Indian people claimed that Buddha born in Bihar, India.

Kalapani and susta villages of Nepal belong to India.

Nepal is a state of India.

Indian bihari dothi people are native or indigenous people of Terai Nepal.

LONDON, DEC 25: Sherpa Tenzing Norgay, who accompanied Edmund Hillary,
the first everester in 1953, was a Tibetan and not a Nepali, according
to a new book.

While
Hillary and the expedition's leader Lord Hunt both believed that the
Sherpa had been born in a remote mountain village in Nepal, a new book
"Snow in the Kingdom" by American mountaineer Ed Webster claims that
not only was Tenzing born in Tibet, but he spent much of his childhood
there. The world's most famous Sherpa was not really a Sherpa at all.

Even
after Tenzing's death in 1986, the truth was considered too sensitive
to disclose, not least for fear of embarrassing the Indian government
which had supported Tenzing after his ascent. It would have handed a
propaganda coup to the Chinese authorities in the Tibetan capital Lhasa
that a "Chinese climber" was the first to climb Everest.

But now Webster has been given permission by the family to reveal the truth about Tenzing's real origins.

Throughout
his life, Tenzing remained vague about his background. In his
autobiography, "Tiger of The Snows", he obscured the truth of his
childhood without quite denying it, telling ghost-writer James Ramsey
Ullman that he grew up in the village of Thame, in Nepal. In fact, his
parents migrated there during the early 1920s after a period of
financial hardship and debt to a local Tibetan governor.

Tenzing,
however, was more forthcoming about his birthplace. He said "I was born
in a place called Tsa-Chu, near the great mountain of Makalu, and only
a day's march from Everest." Tenzing also explains that when he was
born, his mother had been on a pilgrimage to the nearby monastery at
Ghang La, the name of Tenzing house in Darjeeling.

When
Tenzing climbed Everest in 1953 he was hailed by the Nepalese
government in Kathmandu as a local hero who happened to live in India.
Nepal's fledgling constitutional monarchy feared political domination
by the new Indian republic and both countries saw great propaganda
value in claiming Tenzing, the first humble born Asian of the modern
era to achieve global fame, as their own.

Tenzing's
caution about revealing his true origins was partly explained by his
political wrangling. "After we climbed Everest," Hillary said, "and
Tenzing was invited to England, we were really in a jam because Tenzing
had no passport."

The
crisis was averted only when the Indian Prime Minister, Pandit
Jawaharlal Nehru, stepped in and personally ensured that Tenzing
received an Indian passport--something for which the Nepalese
authorities never forgave him. Nehru became Tenzing's patron and
authorised the establishment of a mountaineering school in Darjeeling,
which Tenzing helped to run.

After SLC I went thorough my
fathers book case there I found a 60 page book published in 1960 and written by
Tenzing. It was almost 15 yrs ago but I still remember some from the book they
are.



1. His family may have migrated from Tibet in
early 1900 ( he was told this story by his parents)

2. He was born in Thame ot Thynabochey

3.They were poor so when he was teen age he went to Darjeeling
to earn living. His mother was living in Thame or Thyanbochey (i don't remember
which one)

3. When he was in Darjeeling
he worked as a labor and other type of works.

4. Hillary expedition team was looking for a guide/Varia for their team.

5 Tenzing was a natural choice because he was from Mountain area of Nepal/
young/hard working/and was in good shape.

6. On their way to Everest his mother who was living in (Thame/Thyanbochey)
came to see him.

7. In that book he said he loved his village in Nepal
very much but regrets the economical condition that pushed him out of the
village.



8. After the climb there were some celebration in KTM and he went to UK
and when he returned he visited Nehru who offered him citizenship of India
(ppl still to that type of things for celebrities) and offered him a
director position in yet to be established mounteering school in Darjeeling.
He accepted it because a) after this fame he can’t go to the same old business
of laboring in Darjeeling b) Darjeeling
was the palace where he spent his youth and had few gf. c) The offer was
wonderful for him and he had nothing else.



The situation is almost like most of the nepricans. who were born in Nepal
spend their first 18 yrs in Nepal then come to US, studying/working and finally get green card. Now tell me who are you?? a
Nepali?? Or a US??



I think it is not the problem of who is who. Its the problem of sentimental
ppl from two different countries.



Indians always want to prove that they are great ppl they and love to give
example Budhha is theirs, the guy who concurred Everest for the first time
is theirs and this blah blah goes on. In my opinion Indians have integrity
complex so to get rid of this they always boast they are such and such great
ppl. Indians also always want some sort of certificate of their greatness especially
from westerners.

Three months ago I met a Indian guy who was 27 yrs old and was doing pilot
course. At the same time he was also working as a painter and making lots of
money. One day he told me that Laxmi Mittal had told Indian govt that he will
pay off all the external debt of India
if India agrees
to put his face in Indian currency instead of Gandhi's. And yahoo was founded
by an Indian.



Majority of educated Indians are like this guy. 70% of all the Indians I met
are like that. 15% don’t care and rest 15% are very fine, this is my personal
experience though.
