Why we Nepalese can't say NO to bollywood..and support our own..KOLLYWOOD. bollywood is not any better then kollywood, At least KOLLYWOOD is ours every penny we spend its for our nation for our people said no to bollywood long time ago completely...guess Wat m listening now mukti and revival..feels so good to hear my people singing...and its original CD...not downloaded and m much happy now...and i believe we all Nepalese can do this....lets do for ours.
Stop Supporting /buying Indian magazines. Indian movies music...once and for all........if we do it our new generation to come will follow us...

Most people who grew up in Nepali , influenced by Bollywood,  think that it is cool. But the reality is that most of the people are making mockery of the industry most of the time. There is nothing outstanding about Bollywood- everything is copy and paste.

Sadly, our Nepali movie industry is not that good either, who make a bad copy Indian movies.

Well, in the end, I think one should not impose one's view on others, but I do understand the noble thoughts of the thread orginator.

We are our worst enemy before it's anybody else. We are. Do you know what a nation means ? What a nationality means ? It means you own the culture of your country for the rest of ur lives something u can't escape, it means you will remain Nepali until you are dead, means the country will be there for you if the entire world kicks you out. You don't have to hate other countries to show that you love your own country. Doesn't matter Bollywood sucks or rocks. Doesn't matter they copy and paste. Coz we r not doing it.We r not even remotely close. They are one of the largest entertainment industries in the world. While their leading stars choose to stay home, our leading stars come to USA becoz of various problems. This is one thing I found common in Bangladeshis, Pakistanis, Srilankans and Nepalese. The one thing that binds them is the hatred towards India. Even though nothing else is common. How meaningful such kind of bonding is yet to be seen. As far as me, I love my country and I don't need to not listen to songs I like, not listen to movies that I enjoy, just to show I am more patriotic. But onething for sure, I won't be friends with anyone who is hateful to others just to show he loves his family and nation more. Why don't we promote our strengths? WHY don't we promote our gifted natural beauty, the landscape that's the best in the world, the mountains, the rivers, the resorts, the Kastooris and the Danphes. Why can't we be inclusive, why can't we promote everything that's great about Nepal, obviously not the load shedding and extortion and daily Bandhs and so on. That's what I do whenever I get a chance. I praise the bravery of our ancestors who fought with British India, the honesty that Nepalese are renowned for, the potential of being a major hydropower giant in the world and yet I will see and watch movies and songs coz that doesn't make me any less patriot, didn't make my family any less patriotic.

All  I am doing is encouraging Nepalese people to support our own movies ,
because we don't support our own makes our actors run to other country because they can't survive on what they make...and Prabhat patriotic also means supporting our owns..helping our own  country and people
It had to start from us boycotting Indian movies mean more input into ours ...and i don't think Indian movies are any better and they are crap, its only big because of their size of their own population,and few surrounding countries peoples not any one else.
Go and check out Bangladesh it has improved lot since they start making there own products and supporting their own
Action of India towards its small neighbors creates a hatred..and you should better know that.they always try to act as a super power and they can do anything they like to their neighbors.

MY POINT: NEPALI PEOPLE DON’T HAVE AN IDENTITY OF THEIR OWN WHICH THEY CAN BE PROUD OF.
I'M GONA BE TRULY HONEST HERE. THE ONLY NEPALI MOVIE I HAVE SEEN IS "NUMAFUNG". BUT IT IS TRUE THAT NEPALI MOVIES ARE JUST NOT THAT GREAT. HOWEVER, DOES WATCHING NEPALI MOVIE MAKE YOU NEPALI AND NOT WATCHING IT MAKES ONE LESS OF IT? IF SO, WHAT IS IT ABOUT NEPALI MOVIES THAT MAKES US CLOSER TO BEING A NEPALI OR? I CAN'T ANSWER SUCH QUESTION BECAUSE I HAVEN'T SEEN NEPALI MOVIES. HOPEFULLY SOMEONE ELSE CAN GIVE ME A CONVINCING ANSWER. I AM IN NO WAY ADVOCATING WATCHING HINDI MOVIES. IN FACT I BELIEVE THAT WATCHING HINDI MOVIES DIVERTS US FROM OUR CULTURE AND IDENTITY JUST BECAUSE IT IS A WAY FOR ESTABLISHING CULTURAL SUPREMACY. THE ONLY REASON NEPALI ARE USED TO WATCHING HINDI MOVIES IS BECAUSE WE HAVE BEEN ACCUSTOMED TO WATCHING IT, WE UNDERSTAND HINDI. WHY DO YOU THINK NEPALI PEOPLE REFRAIN WATCHING HOLLYWOOD MOVIES? MOSTLY BECAUSE THEY DON’T UNDERSTAND IT.

AS FAR AS POLITICS GOES, I DON'T THINK THERE IS EVEN A SINGLE POLITICIAN WHO KNOWS WHAT ITS LIKE TO BE A NEPALI AND CAN BE EASILY BE MISTAKEN FOR AN INDIAN. WE DON'T NEED NEW POLITICAL FIGURE WE NEED NEW VIEWS.

INDIAN AND NEPALI CULTURES ARE SEPRABLE ONLY BY A THIN LINE WHICH IS GETTING EVEN THINNER AS THE INDIAN CULTURE HAS BEEN WEAVING MORE OFTEN IN THE TAPESTRY OF PURE NEPALI CULTURE IF IT EVER EXISTED. THUS WE ARE LOOSING OUR IDENTITY.

The simple fact is if u are a Nepali it is your responsibility to do something for Nepal.
1. Poor but hardworking ppl going to middle east /Asia and sending remittance to keep  our economy rolling.
2. Some capable ppl staying in Nepal and trying to do something.
3. If you are abroad and want to do something but you don't know how to or what to just try using Nepali made product that includes film/songs so that some money indirectly flows into Nepali economy.
4. To do this you don't need to hate India or any other country.
5. But you said you are a Nepali and haven't done anything good even though you can and instead you are indirectly spending money to other economy then may be it is the time you need to think about.
6. For me, I mostly don't like Nepali films but at the same time i don't like Hindi films either 90% of them are copied one way or the other from Hollywood movies anyway. and I don't have time and energy to search for rest 10% original Hindi films. thats why I prefer nepali film and songs.

I dont agree... When I am watching a movie, I am watching an entertaining movie, not cuz it is Hindi, English,Nepali or Chinese. THATS IT!

As the money goes to India, let's boycott these too: 1. Boycott Indian Universities, Medical Colleges and other educational institutions. Don't send any of the Nepalese students there to study. No scholarsip plan, no self finance. 2. Boycott using all Indian products, food items, clothes, everything. 3. Prohibit our family members from watching Indian Channels. 4.Boycott the Indian Embassy by never filling up one application form for scholarsip programs. 5. Be friends with everyone who hates them coz we hate them too. 6. Live like North Korea. 7. Dig our head in sand.

No body said you have to take extreme measures. You have to start with least possible disturbing way and watching Nepali films/listening to Nepali music is some of them.
Some one said when u are watching movies you are watching for entertainment. If I watch two Indians movies in a day I develop headache and same is true for Nepali films.

Regarding the Indian education institute you first try Nepali Institute then if you don't succeed there try Indian institutes. I have seen ppl studying in Nepal is also doing good these days. Myself is an example.
There is a difference between bycotting and giving priority. and I alreday said that to use nepali product you dont need to hate India.

And if you dont agree with any of these, its ok, but again then dont you feel thre is some responsibility on your part to help nepali economy? if yes then how are  you going to do that.

India doesnt produce best brain neither does Nepal, but it is not necessary to over rate some country on everything.

--------------- bro, First thing first, the heading of this thread talks about boycott. Hence the word Boycott. Second thing, I am not overrating anything. Facts are there that we need to look at and learn. We as a responsible citizens can help our economy by a number of positive ways. Not by only watching Nepali movies and boycotting other movies. These are the petty of the pettiest measures. We can sure watch and love Nepali movies if they produce good entertainment, sadly that's not the case. You can't force me to watch and pay for it unless Nepal becomes N Korea. Economy can be improved by playing to our strengths. What's our strength ? Tourism. Hydro power. Hospitality. What's our weaknesses ? Our infighting, non existent unity among citizens, our political system, our bitching habit, our habit of finding fault in everyone but ourselves, and above all us. We are the problem. We refuse to look at real issues and divert ourselves from them. Yes I remember the Hrithik Issue. It could have been easily a overblown riot just for the reason that the actor reportedly said that he doesn't like Nepal. And people got killed. The actor later clarified he never said so ? but how does that justify our stupidity ? However, I am not going to indulge in this meaningless issue anymore from now. It obviously helped I am enjoying a long break. Wake up ! Ourselves.It's about time. We don't want to get any worse. AND TELL ME IF NEPALI MOVIES WERE SO ENTERTAINING, WHY IN THE WORLD I WOULDN'T WATCH THEM? At these times of Globalization, can you think of better ways to actually let all those population in India that share common interests with you, to watch a Kollywood movie, to listen to Kollywood music and you remain on the win-win situation?

If possible, work on that. I think they do realize Nepal has talents (Singers, Actresses, VJs) , but are such an ass - they cant actually benefit on their entirety and their nation!

Boycott more than 100 MW electricity we are getting from India right now, boycott refined oil (gas), boycott pressure cooker when bring here in US when we travel Nepal, boycott Needles (luga siwune siyo, we can’t even make it), boycott arms and helicopter when we were fighting with Maoists, boycott roads India made for us, boycott Dargeeling, Deheradun school, Delhi universities, boycott cheap rice, sugar, cooking oil, tooth pastes, vegetables we get from India. CAN YOU???

I spend money there, i buy things supporting my locals.I always encourage my colleagues and people i meet to travel around Nepal.I know its not big at least i am doing something then just trying to shut peoples views and opinions.Get a life BISAL and do something for the country
