Have you ever seen anything that is beautiful? and anything that is ugly? For me hatred is beauty and love is ugly.

Depends on how you see it: A beautiful chick can have an ugly attitude. OR I think spiders are ugly, but to someone researcher its the most beautyful thing in the world. I think its always about perspective

Grishma, for you love is ugly, but do you think love can be beautiful and ugly at the same time? Please focus the word at the same time here. When one thing is beautiful, it means it is not ugly, for that moment, as far as i know.

Tipan Tapan: * If you believe, it is beautiful (If you doubt, it is no more beautiful) * Love is blind (For one it is beautiful, for others the same thing even uglier) * The same thing at the same time can not be beautiful and ugly (Like two eyes can not focus two things at the same time) * The most beautiful things in the world are the most useless such as lilies, peacocks- THOUGHT OF THE DAY (Bitter truth)

Absolutely yes. When he kisses me, it's so lovely but when his beard lacerates my soft skin, it's so ugly. There are many instances like this.

"Can somebody/something be beautiful and ugly at the same time?" Depends on what particular aspect of somebody/something you are talking about but if you are talking about the same attribute of the particular thing or being in question, then the answer is No. It cannot be both ugly and beautiful, because by definition if something/somebody is beautiful it MEANS it is not ugly and vice-versa. It's like saying you can have something and nothing at the same time. By saying you have something you have stated that you DO NOT have nothing. Thus, beauty and ugliness are the opposites and negate each other. If you think about it in binary, a switch is either on (1) or off (0). Can the switch ever be 1 & 0 at the same time? Never. If we did we would never have such things as computers.

Let's say the coin is tossed, neither the head nor the tail was noticed. From the probability theory, the happening of one event precludes the happening of other. Here. the only likely reason may be the coin is biased, otherwise we will have been already reached the conclusion.

The very quality of beautifulness or ugliness depends on the existence of its counterpart. If there was no night then there wouldn't be day because it would be day anytime, everytime and without the distinction with night day would cease to exist. Similarly if there was no such thing called ugly (as we define it ) then there would be nothing beautiful i.e. everything would be just things not beautiful or ugly. In that sense everything is beautiful as well as ugly , in fact, they are both and aren't any of those at the same time.

Lets look at it this way:
Sunita felt very self-conscious about her face. "I'm ugly," she said to herself as she looked into the mirror. "My nose is crooked, my chin is weak, my ears stick out, and I have bags under my eyes."
In desperation she went to a plastic surgeon and had a face lift. Her chin was strengthened, her nose remodeled, her ears adjusted, and the bags under her eyes removed.
After months of suffering, the ordeal was finally over. She was now able to entertain friends, but she still sulked about herself. One day her friend Kavita looked at her in amazement. "I don't know why you look so sad. You now have the face of a movie star." "I know," sobbed Sunita. "But now my new face doesn't go along with my old body."
What I mean to say is: its in the eye of beholder...however you want to look at someone/something.....everything is there. Look at them one at a time, both at a time or grow above it....

Sajhabahadur, You are right: Hesenberg's Uncertainity Principle do explain this philosophical question. And your statistical reasoning is also absolutely true. Kudos to you!

Very meaningful contribution from everybody. No quiero, your quotation is beautiful too. A caterpillar is an ugly, creepy, crawly creature that destroys leaves. Some people wouldn't think twice before squashing it. Then, when metamorphosis takes place, you see a beautiful butterfly emerge from its ugly dry skin, It spreads its delicate colored wings and within minutes takes flight. When it settles on to your hands, you're thrilled. Like when the sleek yellow Mustang transformed into the ugly Bumble Bee. Two-in-One.
