Hi all

I returned to the gym for the first time in 1 years on Thursday and did some back and bicep exercises.

I warmed up and started with light weights. Afterthat my arms started swollen up and tender but it felt normal enough so i left it at thatway. I has hoping it to get better but it's just opposite . I couldn't straighten my arms as it hurt the inside of the elbow.

Today, it feels even worse, I cannot straighten my arms past 90 degrees and I look like a robot . I now have pains in my forearm, biceps. It's not the usual soreness you get from a good workout... much more painful than that.

Has anyone experienced this? Will the pain go away in a few more days or should i see a doc? Could it be a tear?

I am worried because I don't remember having this much pain and stiffness from working out.

hopefully it gets better soon so i can stop walking around like a douche. lol :D

Thanks

Dude..you better go to the doctor..one of my friend had a similar problem..he was doing 100 pounds for his shoulder..he had a pain like yours..but it got really worse after 2-3 days..it started swelling and he went to the doctor and found out that he had build up an infection.

He had a surgery done for his shoulder two months ago ..now he is fine and doctor told him to take rest for 3 months and not to go to the gym for that period...Now he has started doing light weights...I did not mean to scare you but I hope your situation is not like that...

Dont waste your time..get medical help..

Soaring is a normal case esp for those ppl who dont work out regularly but yo case looks different than the usual ones: if i were ya,i would prolly c a trainer first.visiting a doctor is always better but these are the issues a trainer or a skilled person can resolve easily and guide you to the right direction.
if ya r in a college and finance does matter, then go for a trainer in yo athletic dept which is free for every students but if ya dont care about the money, make an appointment with a doc.
Good luck dude but remember never try to lift heavy weights just becoz the person next to ya is lifting 80 pounds dumbbells on each hands.

One more thing, use icebags on those specific areas and leave it for at least 15 mins. Also,it is recommended not to take showers with hot water( Water should not be ice cold but not hot). This is one of the most common and effective way among athletes to reduce the effect of soaring.

Not a big deal, Its only a nerve problem somewhere. If it doesn't get better in a week, talk to your chiropractor.

gu luck

Saturday was really bad as both arms were completely swollen and very tender from the forearm to the bicep - am on the nurofen which seemed of some help. Still I am like a Robot and lots of sensation going on. Couldn't sleep well yesterday.

good advice N C, UK and all. I will see a doc probably, and i wish i had done that! stupid me for going little hard but i've learnt my lesson now lol.

Hope you have seen a doctor esp who specializes in sports injury and you are all taken care of for now. Take some over the counter pain killers like Tylenol or Advil, pain killers also have anti-inflammatory properties.
