Muslim body announces protest programmes
The Joint Muslim National Struggle Committee (JMNSC) Thursday announced a series of protest programmes demanding amendment in the Interim Constitution in order to give constitutional recognition to the distinct identity of Nepali Muslims.
Organising a press conference in the capital, struggle committee members said various protest programmes would be organised in the Kathmandu Valley and outside from today till March 28. The protest programmes include torch rallies in Kathmandu and Kathmandu Valley bandh (shutdown strike) on March 15.
Similar bandh will be organised in eastern region on March 22, western region on March 23, central region on March 25 and mid-western region on March 27.
Coordinator of the struggle committee, Taj Mohammad Miya, said stronger protest programmes would be launched if the government failed to meet their demands including correcting its decision to categorise Muslims -- along with Tharus and other janajati groups - as Madhesis.
He said Tharus and other agitating janajati groups have expressed solidarity to the protests programmes of Muslims. Other demands of the committee include proportional representation of Muslims in the state mechanism, fresh census and formation of National Muslim Commission. nepalnews.com mk Mar 12 09

@ confused soul: hinduism doesnt actively promote/encourage acts of terror like islam does ...you wont find it in the vedas / granths / or upanishad...while if u read a few pages of the quran it tells to kill the disbeleivers. You should be thankful to god or science (whomever you worship) that you were not born a female in a shit country like afghanistan(which by the way use to be the gandara pradesh or upa-gun-istan we knew in the mahabharat..what happend to all the hindus living there?)
Muhammad's sexual antics are an embarrassment to those Muslims who are aware of them. This is particularly so for their prophet's marriage to Aisha when she was 9-years-old. The thought of a 52-year-old man sleeping and bathing with a young girl is intensely unpleasant and it reflects the disgusting character of a sexual glutton rather than a holy man. Critics even allege that Muhammad was a pedophile.
Every 1 thinks their religion is right one...Religion is basically fairytales which are meant to be taken metaphorically..But sadly there are always some assh0les who are willing to twist the meaning...and make something out for their benefit...

There are extremists in every religion. I guess we have all heard of Shiv Shena, and Hindu extremists.
Also Reverend Jim Jones is a classic example of an extremist Christian.
Maybe there are more Muslim extremists, but what's the point when you become an extremist while trying to criticize this very bad trait in Islam.
Also, I see my initial post has been deleted. I'd written that these demonstrations by Muslims is not an isolated phenomena and it's not their "extremism" that we should blame. This is a national disease that's engulfed almost everyone in Nepal. It's kind of irritating to see your views being deleted when you are not the one who's writing or doing anything bad.

btw there are not only extremist muslims, there are moderate muslims as well and by moderate i mean not the ones who came to the west and became westernized but those who despite living in muslim societies do not conform to the religious franticism.
but yeah i was quite upset when i saw peace tv ma dr zakir hussain bhanne ko speeches.. they discredited hinduism and christianity in many of their programs.. also the guy claimed that you could not be a true hindu unless you are a muslim.. he was quoting Bhawishwa Purana to prove that..
