Hi guys, A friend of mine wants to immigrate to Canada from Nepal. She is presently working in a commercial bank in Kathmandu, for about 2 years and her designation is Credit officer. (She is also a part-time college teacher now for about 2 years and had taught highschool as a full time teacher for 2-3 years) Before February 2008, her current full time occupation would fall under NOC 0122 for "Banking, Credit and Other Investment Managers" whereas there was a separate NOC 0111 for Financial managers." http://www.canreach.com/noc.asp But now under just 38 eligible occupations: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who-instructions.asp#list the separate category does not seem to exist for Banking, Credit and other investment managers. Is it merged with NOC 0111 for Financial Manager occupation and people can still apply? or, they are no longer eligible? Can my friend apply? Thanks in advance.

Hi Bnu, Go to the NOC list of high demand-38 and carefully study the job description for Financial Manager/controller/Investment Manager /Planner/auditor etc , select the one that is most close to yours'. While applying just name your current job designation/ description accordingly. Don't copy word to word for job description but try to rephrase and make it sound close to what they are looking for. I did the same and it worked and am sure it works for you too. Pls carefully read instructions from CIC online and visit various immigration discussion foroum to get extensive info so that your application is fullproof. GoodLuck RSam

Jhatka and others,
Thanks a lot for your guidance. I did little more research on it for my friend. Clearly, her occupation falls under 0122 (Banking, Credit, and other investment managers) in the up-to-date NOC list: http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2006/QuickSearch.aspx?val65=0122 But this occupational category is not eligible among the 38 eligible occupations http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who-instructions.asp#list for applicants from outside Canada (she wants to apply in New Delhi). Then her currient duties of credit officer and investment manager do not exactly match 0111 category: http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2006/QuickSearch.aspx?val65=0111 in the latest NOC list because it is a separate occupation category.
But, at the end of this page, it has noted 0122 under "Classified Elsewhere." What does it mean? Does it mean that 0122 can also be consider under the same occupational category 0111 in NOC list? Alos, some of the main duties under 0111 eg, "Evaluate ..., investemnt activities,... ," "Act as liaison between organization and its... investing public," "Establish profitability standard for investment activities..." somewhat match with her current duties. So, as you suggested, I think she should apply under 0111 occupation rephrasing her main duties so as to fit under this category.
What do you and other think? Any further suggestion?
Thanks again.
