Sathi ho, I am visiting New York City from CA for about three days at or around Memorial Day. What is the best way to wander NYC? I also did some online research and found that bus tour is better to see the city. But there are so many sight seeing bus tours and don't know which one to choose from. I would also like to know good eating places in Manhattan and Chinatown.(Chinese, Nepali, Indian, Pan Asian, and Char broiled burgers) Is it OK to buy tickets to historic sites together with sight seeing package or separate at each site like Statue of Liberty, Empire Estate bldg? Which Hotel will be the best to stay? I am planning to live near Times Square. Hoping to get serious suggestion from New Yorkers and other places based on their experience. Thanks a lot.

Get a day bus tour worth it, less tiring and less time consuming - a package that will include all the major tourists spots including statute of liberty and empire state building. you can get it around $40-50 these days. Do not buy online if the price is more than $40-45. You can buy this tour package around madison square garden, herald square or 34st/broadway area. About food, if you want to nepali/indian food-go to Jackson Height area. If you want to stay in Manhattan Area- stay around 34-44 st, 5-7th ave so that you are around timesquare area. priceline.com or anysimilar site to find hotel/motel as per your budget and requirements. Also visit Madam Tushad wax musuem. Central Park will be another place to visit. if you want to qucik visit DC or Baltimore, you can take BUS from Chinatown/Pennstation but you need to spend a day for that.It will cost you $35 for two way. Since you are coming from CA, if you had not visited Niagara Falls, then you might want to go there. You might want to rent a car and drive 6hrs or take bus tour package. It depends on your choice and schedule. I want to visit LA, SanFrancisco but never been down there. have fun! enjoy your stay.

Hi Khurmane, I suggest you to stay in Jersey City near Hudson river so you can view night lights of New York city rather than stay in Times Sq which is more expensive. Its easy to commute from there to Manhattan. Bus tour is good for sight seeing, try night cruise around city (Hudson river). If you are buying tickets look for online deals so no hassel. Plan your trip with spare times either you are taking Subway or Cab, or your own car, there will be lot of traffic in Manhattan. 3 days is not enough to see all the places in NY. It totally depends on your preference. If you are looking for good food try lower Manhattan, for Bars search around Village or SOHO. Lexington and 28th st are OK for Indian food but not worthy. For Indian, Nepali and Mexican foods Jackson Heights, from 74th St to 82nd St and Roosevelt Avenue in Queens, is the best. For Chinese and Oriental foods China Town in Manhattan or Flushing in Queens could be the great choice. I don't know much about Brooklyn, Bronx and Staten Island At last, la la khurmane kalo bana bana............................. (I remember this one from NTV)

Khurmane brother, Visiting NYC in bus is best idea to do , you can get two types of bus one tourist bus which has open top , and take you to all famous place of NYC, and enjoy the skycrapers of Manhattan. Another way is buy unlimited metro card and enjoy ride on MTA buses, which flows in whole city. But train ride in NYC is most momorable too. Don't forget to go Staten Island. you can get free Ferry from downtown Manhattan to staten Island, from ferry you can enjoy full view of Liberty Island. Brooklyn bridge, Times square, Empire states, Wall street , are some famous and common place to visit. if you want some peace and nice view of Manhattan visit Rosvelt Island. You can also enjoy cable car from Island to Manhattan. I recommed you to visit Rosvelt Island,. you can get F train from Jackson height to Manhattan or from times to Queens. and while returning take Cable Car. I am sure u will enjoy alot. if you visit on night time you will say be thanks for such great place. you can get hotels on times square. if you want to eat nepali food go to Jackson Height 74 and Rosvelt Avenue.Dai ko momo pasal ma mitho mitho momo khana nabhulnu. If u want some indians go to Lexinton and 23 to 32 street of Manhattan. Flat iron on 23 and Broadway , Manhattan Bridge near by china town are nice place to go. Old Yankee stadium in Bronx is famous place to go . Corona Park in 113 and rosvelt in Queens has nice park and big Globe with fountain. when you will visit Times , you will definately see Replays believe it or not, and other attraction. Grand Central is nice place for food too, its biggest metro station of NYC, from where you can get train for most of part of NY. If you are going to Washington than don't waste money on grayhound, china town buses are cheap and fast like them. Botanical garden and Coney Island in Brooklyn are famous place in Brooklyn....

I would let you crash at my place to save you some dough, but I am at the mercy of wind right now. but if expensive hotel rooms are not your thing .. look for HOSTELS in manhattan .. $25 dollars a night, they have huge shared rooms, a total tourist experience. I say you should do it even if you have all kinds of dough and save the cake to get baked, if you know what I mean Jai Sambhu!

get tour bus for uptown and downtown for unlimited hip-on-hip-off. they take you to manhattan, UN, Ground Zero, central park, ferry, musiams and cruize, Brooklyn bridge, times square etc. don't forget to go empire state building........., you probably won't like chinatown coz its same like Asian disorder. i am not from new york. you will sure return your money to visit New York. I felt like i got back my money what i spend to visit New York. Happy Journey.

Thanks Guys for helpful insight and guidance. This is really big information and more useful than what I found from internet by spending a week of search. I might have to spend one more day to cover most of the destination and place of interest. The only reason I wanted to go to Chinatown is to have authentic Chinese food. And I guess there might be some to try. I will obviously taking day tour to see the city. I am not planning to take rental car because of congested traffic and expensive parking. Once again, appreciate your help and seek other important info if any. Thanks
