Send them money and ask them to buy one there. Based on my experience of taking electronic items from USA, that will be a lot better.

Send money to your parents in Ktm and tell them to go to supermarket there and buy it. If they can't do it, ask your brother, sister, cousins, friends.............. to do it for your parents.

If you go thru munchahouse.com or thamel.com, they rip you off.

How to send electronics goods to Nepal ??

step1. Pack it properly and label it 'handle with care'
step2. Go to UPS and pay the charge and and ship it. You must put recipient's address correctly.
step3. Call the recipient and tell them this WONDERFUL NEWS.

that's it ;)

Thanks Gay for reminding me how nepali I still am..Thank you very much

The prob is muncha and thamel are robbers when it comes to electronics goods.
And I have no problem sending money. But the problem is my parents dont have any idea of the electronics goods.

I was hoping if someone can give me the sites of all SONY, PHILIPS LG SAMSUNG TVs available in nepal so that I do some research and tell my parents to buy specific model.

Or somebody can give the websites like www.syakar.com , where it lists all the products available in their store

Your help will be much appriciated.

AE

Just Take one pic  of  that  LCD TV which you intended  to send and Then Open your Email account and then attached this pic and then send to recepints Email Address.  Instantly they will get in Nepal.

I think duty of TVs would be 200% as they are considered as luxury items in Nepal.

I WOULD ALSO SUGGEST SENDING THEM MONEY AND BUYING THE TV THERE IN NEPAL BECASUE OF THE FOLLOWING:

I M NOT SURE IF THE TV WILL WORK COZ OF VOLTAGE DIFFERENCE. 110 VS 220

YAHA BATA PACK GARNE JHANJAT. SHIPPING COST WILL BE VERY HIGH.

YOU HAVE TO PAY ALMOST 200% TAX ON LUXURY ITEMS.

YOUR PARENTS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE TO PAY THE CUSTOMS IN NEPAL AS THEY PICK UP THE GOOD.

CHANCE OF BREAKAGE DURING SHIPPING. INSURANCE WILL BE HIGH IF U DECIDE TO INSURE.

IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO CLAIM WARRANTY IF SOMETHING HAPPENS WITHIN THE WARRANTY PERIOD SINCE THE TV WILL BE IN NEPAL.

BARU I SUGGEST YOU TO SEND EXTRA MONEY THAT U WLD INCURE FOR THE ABOVE EXPENSES AND TELL EM TO BUY THERE. I M SURE U HAVE SOME RELATIVES BACK IN NEPAL WHO WILL HELP UR PARENTS DECIDE.

who ever posted this thread.. i have had this kinda thread long time back..

the thing is you shouldn't send it.. as from the above post you can easily know by now that the tax will be more than your TV.. and you won't get one piece TV when it reaches Nepal.. if you even have had the Insurance.. it will be one year to get the money.. Voltage is not the problem.. you can get the converter.. do you want ur parents to see Kabhi Sas Bhi Khabhi Bahu Thi on that.. drop that idea.. if you are talking about the HD LCD... then what's the use.. HD.. you have to have HD channels to enjoy the full function.. to have HD.. in Nepal.. 20 more years..

walkahead...

BIG Mistake, never do this mistake. Fist Voltage: US has 110 voltage and Nepal 220. Once plug in to the power BOOOOOM, your TV's transformer is gone.   Second NTSC. Nepal use Pal, even its a HDTV but PAL run with 50 MHz and NTSC is a 60 MHz, you only going to see lines rolling. Hope that help.
