Hi , I recently got an Iphone 2g 8gb. It is not unlocked. Can it be unlocked without inserting sim card? It now when turned on says to connect to itunes and when i connect to itunes tries to register the sim card with at&t. Is there any method to jailbreak/unock it without having sim card or using t-mobile simcard ? Your help is appreciated. Thanks.

To unlock your iPhone you first have to jailbreak it, follow the link below and get Spirit http://spiritjb.com/ after the JB's done, simply open cydia up, let it load, refreash all that then search for ultrasn0w..intall it..and voila...you're unlocked. hope this helps.

So Sorry for the wrong info above dude. For the iPhone 2G, install firmware 3.1.2. Then use either spirit or blackra1n to jailbreak it. After that open cydia, let it load and run its cycles. then instead of ultrasn0w that i suggested above, Search for "BootNeuter ." Before you run the app though remove your SIM from the phone. Run bootneuter slide the Unlock option to ON, then press Flash. your baseband will get flashed and you should have an unlocked iPhone 2G.

dwastha, when i said "sorry for the wrong info above", i was referring to my own info not yours because i had told him about ultrasn0w which only unlocks the iphone 3G and up not the 2G. sorry for the misunderstanding. But i do think for the iPhone 2G, Bootneuter is the only unlock tool. On the iPhone 2G, when you use blackra1n, i do not think the blacksn0w tab appears..but then i might be wrong too. I have only JB/unlocked 2 iphone 2G to date, your experience is much greater than mine. sorry again for making it seem like i was referring to your info.

Okay Guyz.. I did it... Thanks... First Jailbreaked it using redsn0w-win_0.9.4 and downloaded bootneuter from cydia and unlocked.. Thanks for your help.
