well said Allegro.
So badly did he humiliate the so-called best right-back in the world tonight that, long before the end, the home fans were singing: "Taxi for Maicon!' If spurs win the Champions league, he will be the next fifa player of the world, undoubtedly.

" If spurs win the Champions league"
I think the "if" needs to be capitalized to emphasize what you are dreaming of...just saying!

Yes,,the if is possible if he stays fit and get supports from his team mates ( at least from defense guys by not conceding many goals) Even the best right back in the world could not stop him, would like to see how others chase him.. bring on Alves, Ramos
PS: I am not a spur fan. Just impressed with his skills, speed and accuracy. Did you watch his ha-trick in san siro? though he played better than that today.

@bhustighre: DO NOT FORGET TO WRITE THE REFERENCES. OR ELSE ITS A COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT. IN THIS CASE ESPNSTA.COM (Do not take it seriously; just kidding) AND I THINK SPURS ARE NOT A TEAM THAT CAN WIN CAMPIONSHIPS. THEY DO WELL EARLY BUT WILL ULTIMATELY COLLAPSE WHEN PRESSURE STARTS BUILDING UP AND HAS A MATCH WITH A CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM.

I knew this kid has a special talent after he single handedly brought chelsea down in the epl match ..it was so sad to see ur team lose but was proud to see this talented guy in action..
Btw how ironic is it that intermilan had shown interest in this guy couple of months back and the same guy shines to bring them down..this guy has pace, skill and awareness in the game and yes definitely he made maicon look like a child ..apart from his special talent, if mourinho was still managing the team the game would have been different..by saying that i don't wanna take anything away from bale..he fully deserves the accolades..he's definitely a player to watch out for..

@jhapaliketo, as spurs are playing their debut CL, how can you say that spurs will do well early but will ultimately fail ?? They have everything to go all the way but I do agree that anything can happen in football. This does not only apply to spurs but for every clubs. Can you guarantee for any club that will go to the final?? And I not only took that line from soccernet.espn.go.com but also added one extra line :P
@b27b, I agree with you.. A star is born again in soccer and his name is Gareth Bale.

I was not trying to take anything away from Bale..he is indeed very good. But we should not forget that Maicon is the best "attacking" right back ..his defensive skills are oh well....
As per CL, it is way too early to make any claims..spurs do not have depth and its a long season...and no team wins CL with one guy no matter if he is Messi or Bale..look at the EPL table alone and it will be clear..they have 4 win 3 loss and 3 draws...and just so you know Bale has played all those matches (I think)
having said that he was pretty good and lets see how long this last

mankokura, let me put forward my view, first of all, I did not say one man can win CL, I just said if his team mates help him, he will go very far and will be famous like messi or whoever. secondly, a good player can't win every game for a team, but definitely can have impact, like he did against champions of europe. Looks like you did not watch game. Did you see him playing against chelsea? Against manchester city, arsenal? His wembly goal? Did you notice how many times he made maicon fool? He scored 3 goals and assited 2 in 2 matches. For that to happen in football, do you know how many times one should try?
He has been magnificient since last season. I don't think your messi or whoever can have impact like him playing in a club like spurs, who are just playing their debut CL. I don't mean bale is better than messi but we must accept that messi is famous because he plays for barcelona. For example, had Ozil not been playing at Madrid or clubs of that level, despite his performance in WC, I doubt he would be famous like now. Clubs matter.Arshavin would not be famous had he been playing at cska, ronaldo would not win fifa award, had his team mates not helped win CL.
You sound as if the world does not produce any football stars again.

Bhustighre bro,
Bale is def. doin great so far this season, but I really hope he won't be one season hit. U said Bale has been magnificent since last season where as Messi has been one of the best since 2007 n look at his impact in Barca where they have/ had one of the best players in each position. 62 games 62 goals since last season and goin, top scorer in CL in 2 yr in a row and seems like he is on his way to top again , youngest player to score 30+ goals in CL beatin Raul's record and the list goes on. Furthermore, Ribery, Robben(RM outcast) play in Germany but still considered one of the bests. Batistuta played in Fiorentina and Roma, but is considered one of the best striker of the game.
Its not only players in CL, but, tactics count alot like how they play in home matches and use different strategy in away matches in KO stage. Anything can happen in football but team should be good enough to make that "anything" to happen or atleast be able to fight.

I agree they all are great players. But Bale is definitely the one who can be as great as them in future. I don't think at the age of 20,21 Roben and Ribery were as good as Bale is now. Though I still think Ribery is overrated. Messi is great, everybody knows. (despite the support of other world class team mates esp. xavi, iniesta). And it's not wise to compare Bale with Messi now. Should he be given a chance to play in team like barca, then we can compare.
Lets see how Bale performs in the coming games..so far his attitude is brilliant.

bhusti...
>let me put forward my view, first of all, I did not say one man can win CL, I just said if his team mates help him, he will go very far and will be famous like messi or whoever.
aah assumptions!
> secondly, a good player can't win every game for a team, but definitely can have impact, like he did against champions of europe. Looks like you did not watch game.
a good player "in my definition" does more than 2 goals 0 assists in 10 EPL games. And sorry to disappoint you but I did watch the game.
> Did you see him playing against chelsea? Against manchester city, arsenal? His wembly goal?
Nobody is denying he is a good player.
> Did you notice how many times he made maicon fool? He scored 3 goals and assited 2 in 2 matches.
It would be interesting if you showed his stats for EPL as well if I may ask? It's way too easy to bend stats.
> For that to happen in football, do you know how many times one should try?
Yes sir, I do know (at least I think so).
>He has been magnificient since last season. I don't think your messi or whoever can have impact like him playing in a club like spurs, who are just playing their debut CL.
you are open to believe what you feel. But saying messi won't have an impact in club like spurs is oh well...Have you seen how many goal Messi creates on his own and how many assist he provides. Barca, yes the mighty barca would be struggling if it was not for Messi. And just so you know, spurs is a great team. I don't think saying its debut CL makes them amateur.
> I don't mean bale is better than messi but we must accept that messi is famous because he plays for barcelona. Not true. Messi is famous because he scores.
> For example, had Ozil not been playing at Madrid or clubs of that level, despite his performance in WC, I doubt he would be famous like now.
more assumptions! more people watch RM game then marseilles I suppose. Why do u blame some player who can't make it to RM. Why are you completely ignoring the fact that RM, yes RM came after Ozil.
>Clubs matter.Arshavin would not be famous had he been playing at cska,
Yeah as if CSKA are champions of europe. Seriously, Arshavin is a great player (ok not that great).
> ronaldo would not win fifa award, had his team mates not helped win CL. Ronaldo had more hand in winning the CL than anyone else "IMO".
> You sound as if the world does not produce any football stars again. I really didnt mean to imply that. All I am saying is I dont make someone a hero from couple games. There are way too many better players lying around.
