Thought Tmobile was about to merge with Sprint.

 Not sure whether it's gonna be nightmare for Sprint and Verizone or for ATT itself. I think ATT did a huge mistake because they already have too much of problems and on top of the T-Mobile customers, might as well good too, never know, let's see. 

Its a huge hit on sprint and verizon ! Att will be biggest cell phone carrier with 120 million user (source wiki) !
@boule there is no problems on tmobile , becoz its not cdma like your sprint ! We ( t and att customers) can talk and surf net at same time lol

 @americane: So according to you Sprint and Verizone customers cannot talk and surf at the same time. LOL...Do some more research and FYI the deal between ATT and T-mobile is not done yet. It's gonna take at least 12 month to be effective, go through the below article

 I use AT&T and this is definitely not a good thing for us as cosumers.  We need more competition not less and all these mergers acts against our favor. Now there's gonna be a large monopoly on communication too.  
AT&T Mobility is a GSM carrier. So is Tmobile and Nextel. Verizon is a CDMA carrier, so is Sprint. I bet they merge not long after this goes through. One more sad news for americans in this bad economy as there will be huge lay offs pretty soon.

Will be a challenge to get approval from USDOJ.

@elusivecat: You got some point out there. After the merge of the 2nd and 4th largest cell phone company in U.S now there won't be any other competition between GSM Carrier, So ATT can make do a huge change on their price plan and since most of the immigrant like us still wants to use GSM Carrier so that we can send the cell phone to back home once our contract is over. Like the way ATT has done a huge monopoly on iphone, they probably gonna do the same thing on GSM carriers now. But i still doubted whether it's gonna happen or not.

Actually, it might not be as bad for the consumers as you guys have pointed out.
Sure ATT loses another competitor in GSM market. But it would be good for ATT consumers since purchase of T-mobile gives them instant access to thousands of towers and bandwidth, both of which could have taken 5-10 years for AT&T. This means better coverage and faster download. Since Verizon is right behind, price increase will still be curbed, admit it...T-mobile wasn't a big player in the market anyways.
