Hi folks, I have already done master and was one of those unlucky guys to graduate in the midst of recession. so couldnot finda ny job hung aroun, extended opt and with no luck went back home. Then my sevis got terminated. I cam back again with new sevis but old visa. Now here is dilemma, can i get opt again with the masters again since i am in new sevis ? also my international advisor says i cant get cpt since i am a new sevis student but tells me i cant get opt beacuse i already have it..i am confused ..for cpt i am new but for opt i am old..if someone has any idea please help

well , you can get opt once on level of study which you have completed. Since , you have already finished Master and used your opt . therefore , you won't get approve for another opt. however, if you finish studying PHD then you can get opt on PHD. thanks.

I heard some institute in NY give CPT for a technical training. Is it legal for international students too? If yes how long will that i20 and cpt work? How long after you join do they give cpt? if any one has idea please help

Yes. I also dont think another OPT is possible. Try out if you will be eligible for CPT!

I heard of some Universities were offering CPT from the first semester and you enroll only on online courses. That is illegal. USCIS has defined that to be a full time student you have to have a classroom experience. Only one online course counts towards your full-time status. One of those universities was raided last year in California and SEVIS record of all students were terminated. When there was complain about termination of SEVIS, USCIS said that students knew what they were getting into so there is no consideration.
So be careful about such technical institutes.

who else knows better of that university than i do...i got into that mess cos i wanted to work so bad to support my family back home....but still advisor told me come in sumer 2011 to sanfransisco for regular class and we can work out for ur online class...part greed part need made me fell into that TVU trap...but with second masters i dont see me getting opt and phd is way out of my head...so i was quering about legality of those institue in NY....man too much in this head..not even place for hair..thts why ther are falling too..
