My company is starting my Green card process under Eb2..
I am assuming Labor certification can take any where from 3-6 months right ?

I am not married yet..what would be the best thing to do ?

I want to get married around Nov-Dec 2011 but will that be too late ?

Plz share your experiences and my options available.

I do not want to delay the GC process because you never know what will happen later !

Legally get married and let it remain between you and your spouse.

I assumed you wanted to apply GC for your spouse as well. Not clear, why you want to delay it.

I have a similar predicament but the good news is that I do have a girl! I started a similar thread recently which might be helpful.

From what I know (which might easily be wrong!), I believe you would need to include the spousal information while filing out I-485, which would you fill out 5-8 months after you initiate the GC process. Provided you find a girl in time, first get married (court marriage here would suffice) and then file for I-485 with your spouse included .......you should be all set (unless H.R. 3012 becomes a law and we're all phucked palai pilo by our northern and southern neighbors!!). Having said that though, I would recommend discussing your plans with your lawyer before initiating the GC process. Hope it helps.

Jai Nepal!

Guy_tensed,
My sweet lord is correct !
I am going through the similar scenario right now and here are the things u can do:
(1) first of all prevailing wage determination can take about 1 month
(2) recruitment process will take anywhere between 30-60 days
(3) Labor certification will take anywhere between 90-180 days and sometimes even more.
(4) even if the labor certification is approved you have another 6 months to file your I140 which will give you around 8-10 months before you can file your I-485 that's where u need ur spouses info. Get married in that 8-10 months time frame and u r all set.

If the Hr 3012 passes and becomes the law then I don't have to worry about it right now , it will take sometime before u can file i485

But sometimes u get lucky and your labor certification might get approved in 3 months so you have to plan accordingly.
