Doris Henderson Newcomers School is a place for immigrant and refugee families to send their children to get acclimated to the US Public School System, learn English, and American culture. Teachers and staff have only one school year to prepare these kids for assimilation into a regular school. It is fairly unique in that there are not many schools that are 100% dedicated to this goal. However, there are a large number of programs within existing schools that offer the same service to the refugee and immigrant population within the US.

It is a great concept...I have been there and they serve their purpose very well indeed. It is a great institute and has helped a lot of new commers. I didn't know about this but now I know.......will vote. thanks for the link.
