All,

I am looking for some info on J1 visa for non-clinical program or Research for a practicing medical doctor in Nepal (graduated 2 years ago). I don't know much on this topic, where would be a good place to start finding how the J-1 works for medical doctors? Also, I have heard that you need to go through ECFMG. Is that for all cases, or only some? Is USMLE required for J-1? Do universities also fund the J-1 applicant directly in some cases? Who at the university would be a good point of contact, international admissions, or the department or interest?

Thanks for any info you can provide.

~B
