Hi, I would like to get some advice regarding carrying money when traveling to Kathmandu. I mean cash in excess of 1000 dollars. I think it would also help other people who have the same question.

I was wondering if it's safe to take cash with you in person (like in backpack) when going from US to Kathmandu.
or would you recommend doing like Traveller's Check. If you do Traveller's check, what is the fee when cashing in in Kathmandu?

Or would you recommend something else.

Thanks.

I took 1k cash with me last time I went home, no issues at all. Keep it in your backpack or something similar you'll be carrying with you all the time.

I presume the reason for 9999 is that if you carry more than 10k, it has to be declared. A lot of times, US Custom officials ask passengers on international flights if they are carrying cash in excess of 10k. Refer to the form below for explanation, and requirements.
