O.K, It's Valentines' day. So? No I do not have anything against the spirit of the DAY, one day (week would be better), where we set aside the time for our (that) ONE person, and neither do I oppose anything that's remotely fun. At this mechanical age, of course we need to tune ourselves to remind us that there is more to life. And life's joy is better when shared especially with .. well THE ONE. No I do not have any dark memories, any poignant tales, or a scar that opens up every valentines'. In fact, few of them have been exceptionally memorable, an odyssey if you will. But, as I try to look back to the years, I remember Valentine's was hardly a "circus" that it is now. It was truly a 'thing' between two people. It's another thing that if I go further back, we had not even heard of anything called Valentines' day :). We hear so much about Valentines' day. 'Any plans?' "What are you getting for HER/Him?" And the next day, "so how was it?" We went to this place and it was blah blah blah...give me a break. I overheard one of my very beautiful female colleague ;), asking another (guy), "aren't you off today? He went, "Why? Why should I be?..What?" :). Then there were (quite) gushing between two colleagues. Apparently one had got something related to the family of diamond or its siblings. And yes, they were FEMALE(s). And no, they were not loud. (As if). Those awwwwwwwwww's and o0o0o0oo's. Darn. I gave them the most radiant smile I had :). As I rushed to work this morning, worried, frustrated for being late (I left her a message) for the 'touch base' meeting with my boss, guess what did I learn after coming to work. SHE is not feeling well :), & most probably she would be off today. Hehehe. A valentine fever perhaps. And there I was, worried that I am late for our so (un)important meeting. Valentines' day is nothing more than a commercialization & is one of the foster children of the capitalist world. It is overstated, over blown and nothing more than mere hype by the commercial industry, to extract every last penny they can, from our hard earned money. And we are like that fish in the abyss, where we can only escape for so long & we all shall be 'caught', eventually. After all, the spaces are scarce, if at all. Would someone please tell me if this day actually help sustain the life of a relationship, or does it in any way makes (already) beautiful relationship more bewitching, or for that matter, mend the relationships already on the rocks? No, really? Isn't today's relationships more like, "I love you, but I'm not in love with you" kind? The hype for this DAY is anything but, grotesque at best. Like one Spanish philosopher said, "We fall in love when our imagination projects nonexistent perfection upon another person. One day, the fantasy evaporates and with it, love dies." Or does it? I leave that for you to decide. But it makes one think for a while. Doesn't it? Frankly, I do not see any reason for this day to be hyped about. It's nothing more than propaganda. Sooner we realize that, better it is. Needless to say that if there are any winners, or for that matter anyone who actually benefits from this great day, are those who has commercial interest in it. But then again, who doesn't? After all there are 'sales' almost everywhere. ;). There in lies an irony:). And with it Valentines' day is here to stay. Happy Valentines' Day. :) IndisGuise:) P.S: It doesn't reflect the view of the writer :), and neither does it imply that writer resents the 'subject'. It was mere avalanche of random thoughts in oblivion.

Talk about a sad case. LOL. Maybe he did have a worse valentine than mine eh'? Hahahaha. Maybe not. :( Hehehe... In jest, IndisGuise:)

See why I say lekhe, lekhekai dukha :( Phewwwwwwwwww... Kasto fasad yaar. Hahahaha That's a quote henceforth. Don't forget to cite the source though. Need more coffee before I put my work hat! Agreed, It IS overblown, it maybe overstated Majority of the times and YES it is definately here to stay. But what isnt now a days? Marx predicted the downfall of capitalism after it reaches its peak. Will it EVER reach its peak? Commercialization of festivious occasions is precisely the mark of globalization. Emotional attachment to products by refering to them with family values in order to maximize sale is not a concept that is new to us. So i should expect you to be a critic of every occasion out there because it undoubtably attaches commercialization with it?

As much as valentine's day is over-rated and blown out of proportion, speaking against it in public and declaring oneself to abstain from it is not lesser a hype either... :P to each his own. although i am myself against the concept, if someone feels good by celebrating it, i would say, yeah go ahead!!! LooTe PS Indi bro, where art thou? do you still remember that thread on maoism? or do you still don't want to remember it? hahahahahah j/k!!!

Flippy, This is one of my fav thread from good ol' time!!..:) Loote, well I am just accepting with Indi on the fact that it is overstated and overblown, commercialized actually; And what I beleive is love don't cost a thing; and every moment lived with it is precious, every nano nano second that is!!..:) TM, U should have come in 2005; there were so many worthy things in sajha!!..:D Rythm, no discussions this year eh!!..:D Cappy, He is living happily ever after..:P Happy Valentine's day for ya all!! Hope every moment in your life is full of precious love, and each moment be as precious as another!!..:)

Captain, rather than finding my beat, I had too much study load so hardly have any time to breathe! :s The irony!!! I am standing at the same place now and posting just like I was last year and the year before that:s Juggy!! No arguments at all. I dont know why I argued in the first place. And since Indi is not here my argument would be wasted dont you think?

Rythm - LOL!! Looks like I was being over-optimistic :P Bhusan - Ha ha ... a flattering comparison but no way. I could never match his infinite wit and wisdom. IndisGuise - where are you? Such anticipation by so many people could be a bit lethal for them :P :)
